Yeah, sorry 'bout Cinder not really taking any action, I need a little bit of "getting adjusted" to a game; here I'm really a bit clueless as to how we should proceed; Cinder was kind of made with the assumption that other skills were covered by other characters... He's kind of lacking the subtlety you might've wanted/expected Lethe/Procel to bring into the game.

We're in a background count of 1, right?
Can I still call my rating 1 bonded focus here? Would that destroy it here or would I later be unable to dematerialize it because it doesn't have enough magic left or something?
Or will it just offer 0 extra dice?

it won't appear here, but you'll be able to call it as soon as you're out.

*sob*
If I summon it from the outside and then go into a negative BC zone, does it... vanish to be lost forever? Or become "unsummoned" until I can call it again?

Become unsummonned until you call it again.
Of course you have the word of order. This could grant you the thing for the duration of the scene.
Sorry for a small delay ;)

Hm... can I edge an edge test? :)
What's the threshold for Word of Order: "My force and edge increase to 20"?

Do we know what "Joke of the Century" or that other ritual (to switch to the other side(?)) entails? Like, could it give us an idea of what to look for?
And the necklace... I'm assuming it's something that stands out pretty hard on the astral, being a relic and all?

Joke of the century is something that's planned and delivered by the hosts of havens only to result in something disastrous and preferably funny (though that measure is depending on the perception of the observer :) ).

The relic should stand outing astral but many things should and yet they don't hidden by magic.

Sent, I could be wrong, but afaik a dual natured being (such as a materialized or possessing spirit) doesn't have to switch perception, they always see the astral plane (in addition to their "borrowed" senses, if any).

The mage is dual natured being and must change perception.

What kind of item to possess you look for?
Easy things would be wooden swords for example (though as you don't have realistic form one would become flaming wooden sword, and generally unprocessed things.

regarding your question on increasign Force and Egde using the word of power, the answer is obviously, "hell no!"

Was actually hoping for something people tend not to notice, something at the ceiling or whatever. (Using his infiltration ability to pick out an item/place that doesn't get much attention.)
The aura doesn't have to be visibly burning and glowing, by the way, it could be heat waves or somesuch too.
If people look at <item>/<person>, it's easy to see it is possessed, but that doesn't mean it's easier to see than it would normally be afaik, certainly not as far as giving light or something. That's how I understand it anyway.

If it's just "burning item" on the other hand, he could maybe find a candle or something, heh. :)

Oh, as for the Dual Natured thing:
SR4A: Dual Natured: "<snip>innate dual nature is different from astral perception in that dual natured critters can always sense both the physical and astral worlds without having to shift back and forth."
So there's a difference between awakened people with astral perception and creatures that are inherently magical. But PC Free Spirits do get different rules on some stuff, so it's your call and I'm fine either way. Just wanted to explain why I thought what I thought.

need to find it, but I could swear there is something on mages becoming dual natured ...
but true, awakened metahumans are not critters, at least form the metahuman perspective, from higher spirits perspective, they are just vessels

how about a searchlight? (it is hung over the stage)
or a flute? or violin? there is a couple of instruments, laid down for the tommorows rehearsal.
or a gun in Procels holster? (it is hidden, and nobody should notice, but it will become very hot)
Sorry for a small delay ;)
