Can someone clue me in on the original Augmentation controversy? Mara makes it seem as if it was made using stock photography or something like that? I don't quite get it.
Poser, Carrera, and DAZ STudio(which are all mostly compatible, as well) use a system of models, and predone textures, colours, etc.
You can do alot with them, mind you, and if you are adventuresome, you can use a program called GIMP to make or modify models and textures.
The Orks there as well as the woman and her clothes were all pre-existing models. It looks like he used some morph injections to Stephanie Petite, since the hair and glasses were done for her, and had to do some work to adapt the outfit to fit, since it was made for
Aiko 3. At one time, I had actually, out of boredom, tracked down every component of that, and, frankly, there wasn't an originally created part, just an original composition.
Think of it like taking pictures of your dolls after you dress them up..that is essentially what is done for that sort of 3D Art...
That said..my issue is not that the artist used that. I dabble in it myself, and that cover is a bit beyond my skill and ability, so
I can appreciate that. He did superb lighting work, in fact. My issue, the thing that causes the disconnect for me is that the
outfit is not just stock, but default. He could have recoloured it, done something a little more then just getting it to fit the
model and calling it "done." Same with the hair. I can appreciate the work put into it, but...that so mucxh is recognizable as to
where it came from is what causes my issues with it.
