Physical Description:  Tall with a medium build. Not muscular, but not fat either.  Kind of average looking.  Has an affinity for slacks and button-down shirts, with a brown belt and brown loafers.  As long as he looks good, he doesn’t care what else is happening.  Always smiling.

Personality/Background:  Grew up in an orphanage, with nobody to look out for him but himself.  He realized at an early age that he had an aptitude for chemistry, and he used this to mix things together to find out the right combinations to make stuff that was viable.  He quickly turned this into an ability to create explosives and ammunition, being able to create both out of next to nothing.

When he turned 18 he was forced from the orphanage, even though the headmistress – a gorgeous, 40ish redhead – was his flavor of the week. Needing money and having nowhere to really turn, he heard of a Johnson in one of the local bars that was looking for a gun runner.  He thought “What the hell” and decided to seek out the Johnson and take the job. He got the job, did it wonderfully, and started to get bigger and better smuggling jobs.

One of the jobs he did was for law enforcement, secretly moving things in an evidence locker to a secured location.  He took the stuff to the dropsite, and as soon as it was all off-loaded, he was placed under arrest for running illegal guns and goods.  Law enforcement did this as a way to try and protect the evidence, the fact that they moved it, and where they moved it to.  He did 5 years in prison as a result of this job.

Once out, he tried to work a normal job, but being an ex-con didn’t help him out any.  Eventually, he was broke and needed cash.  So he started looking for more Johnsons and more smuggling jobs…

Backstory
A former security officer and native-born citizen of the Japanese empire. During his history of employment within one of Japan’s top megacorporations, Toshiro Takahashi worked hard to reinforce the safety of what he believed was his company’s most valuable assets – its people. While his tour of duty within the armed forces was helpful in securing an initial foothold, Toshiro’s work ethic and mannerisms allowed him to not only retain his job, but to excel and even earn a promotion.

Unfortunately, this would not last forever. Disgraced in April 2061 through internal politics and coworker jealousy, Toshiro drafted a letter of resignation. He signed the document with his name in blood, using a letter opener to draw out precious red ink from his finger. Having completed his jihyo, Toshiro quickly departed his Kyoto office and sought out passage to North America through Yakuza channels. If nothing else, they were understanding of his reasons to leave.

Under the alias of Wraith, Toshiro has worked in the shadows for at least a decade, scraping together what nuyen he could to make a living. While familiar with the Seattle shadow scene, he made a few enemies while learning the ropes; recent harassment from the Halloweeners prompted Wraith to destroy his old identity and start anew as Operator.

Prior to the campaign, Operator was holed up in Auburn with the working stiffs of Seattle, having the dubious honor of calling a sparsely decorated warehouse his home.

Personality
Operator is observant, methodical, practical, and sociable. He is comfortable within a leadership role, preferring to lead by example. Contrary to the sentiments of most Japanese citizens, Operator is quite moderate with regards to metahumans. He has never been outspoken about his contempt for racial prejudice, fearing that his parents and colleagues would lose face were he to express himself freely. In North America, however, he does not have to suffer the burden of such psychological tension.

Operator is uncomfortable with returning to Japan, primarily due to metahuman racism being a pervasive element within the nation. He is also concerned that someone might recognize him and alert the local authorities to his sudden presence after being missing for over 10 years.

Personality
Spirit is a traditional, conservative Japanese man. He believes in the old ways, and is loyal to his traditional, conservative beliefs. Above that, though, he is a consummate professional, and duty to his profession is his life, no matter who we happens to work for now.

Backstory
When you deal with the Devil, the Devil don't change...

Spirit grew up like any Renraku citizen, he went to the proper schools, earned the proper degrees, and at the end of it all he got a proper job. Unlike his peers, though, he was selected to be part of the acquisitions division of Renraku. This meant many things to the then-young man, first and foremost it meant that he no longer had a family, friends, a life, or even a SiN. He worked long, hard hours, even by wage-slave measurements. He didn't get a day off, sleep was that bit of unconsciousness between the final test of the day and the first test of the next day. He learned much in that year, but the most important thing that he learned was that no matter what, his failures would embarrass the entirety of Renraku, the company he owed everything to. With that motivation he trained diligently, and with ambition.

When the training was finally over a year later, Spirit gained an identity, and a job. Hideo Ishikawa landed in mainland Japan, bright-eyed and full of vigor, only to learn that all of his training was not going to be put to use. He was a report-maker, a paper pusher, and a gopher. Dismayed at first, Hideo soon realized that he was in charge of a large amount of information, so much so that it was nearly impossible to keep track of it all. He set to learning everything he could about the operations that surrounded him vicariously, by piecing together details from the volumes of reports he processed daily. This became his life, seemingly the master of his own small world, intimately familiar with the comings and goings of everything he touched.

Two years later, his chance to work in the field came. He was to be part of a B&E team that was tasked with testing the internal security of a new facility. One of the youngest on the team, Hideo performed admirably, using front-door infiltration to get to his designated location five minutes before the rest of the team. His pride swelled at the end of the exercise, he had done so well that he was to be sent to the Seattle Arcology to ensure certain pieces of data were recovered. His team, in the end, was not sent, as the Corporate Court had spoken on the issue. Undeterred, Hideo volunteered himself for any field operation that may or may not be going on. His request was granted.

Thus began ten years of faithful service to Renraku. He was sent across the globe, Manhattan, Seattle, Denver, Hong Kong, Neo-Tokyo, Tir-NaNog, and more. He learned the value of a well-placed bullet, the virtue of patience, and that Shadowrunners had a penchant for making things difficult. He did all this honorably and unquestionably loyal to Renraku. He had seen the dark side of the Megacorp, and he had seen the dark side of others. It always seemed, to him, that his employer was simply playing by the rules to ensure an even ground with it's competitors. And even if his employer was less than what he believed them to be, he was paid well, lived is a respectable apartment, and was able to live his life properly because of the opportunity afforded to him. 

That all ended about six months ago. The acquisitions division's budget had been cut, and Hideo's position had been deemed "Unnecessary".  Hideo was stunned. All of his friendships and contacts within the company. His entire life, was ended the moment his 'boss' somberly handed him the papers. In hindsight, he found it amusing. Everything within the company was done digitally, except for termination. There was just something permanent about dead-tree media that a text file could never convey.

"We regret to inform you, Ishikawa-san, that your position within the company has been found to be unnecessary. You will be given two months allowance, and your data trail will continue to be purged in accordance to internal policy 9024b Subsection U. We wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors."

And so he moved to Neo-Tokyo. He found freelance work with the many security consulting firms, and also did a few jobs for a former Imperial Marine that called himself Tinman. Still personally shattered by his termination, Spirit resolved to continue on. No matter what, he was a professional. And professionals get the job done.

I'd say it is OK with Records on File since the same folks who might be erasing you also happen to be the ones keeping a detailed dossier on you.  That said I can't see any way that it could work with SINner though since the whole point behind that negative quality is that people can look things up about you.  One or the other should probably go.

Background

His father met his mother during a business trip to Neo-Tokyo.  And the story went as most stories went.  Boy meets girl, the two fall in love, and get married.  Unfortunately, his mother belonged to an old-school family, who believed in keeping the family pure.  Despite several threats from the family, the two went through with the marriage, and Jaime's mother was disowned.  Without a place to stay in Japan, his mother joined his father in the UCAS.  His father was a low-level paper pusher at one of the smaller corporations, Payne Industrials, a chemical and biologicals manufacturer.
His mother became a home-maker, raising Jaime while his father earned a wage.

To make up for having been disowned, his father took his mother's maiden name and pushed his mother to teach Jaime about her half of his cultural heritage.  As he grew, she taught him more and more about Japanese culture: the holidays, the festivals, general etiquette and the like.  One of his favorites happened to be tea, as it allowed him a sense of peace and bonding with his mother.  Jaime had always asked about his mother's parents, and she would tell them what they were like, but never where they lived or why they never visited.  Jaime would sometimes dive into the Matrix in an attempt to learn more, but without specifics, it was a goose chase.  Once, he asked what they did for a living, and his mother became gravely silent and told him never to bring it up again.

When he was sixteen, his world was shattered forever.  He had gone out to a party, to celebrate the end of finals, when he received a call from Lone Star.  They told him someone had broken into his home, a robbery most likely.  Unfortunately, his parents had been home at the time, and the robbery had gone badly wrong.  His parents had been killed, with no culprit to be found.  After days of grieving, Jaime swore revenge.  He asked around the more seedy neighborhoods for days, visiting dives, and putting his ear to the ground for rumors.  It wasn't till months later that Jaime finally got a break.  He had plied a stranger at a bar with many a drink, until he let slip about a job he did a while ago.  The stranger mentioned Jaime's neighborhood, and that he killed some guy and his wife, asian he thought.  That was more than enough for Jaime.  He led the stranger out back, and shot him twice in the head.   It was then that Jaime gave up his former life, and took on the alias Kozak, and began his life as a Runner.  Once he made enough nuyen, he paid for a one-way trip to Japan, to try and find his mother's family.  Giving up the contacts and friends he'd made over years of running in the UCAS, he contacted Ishida Tatsuya, a fixer in Japan, and began his time there.

I'd say it is OK with Records on File since the same folks who might be erasing you also happen to be the ones keeping a detailed dossier on you.  That said I can't see any way that it could work with SINner though since the whole point behind that negative quality is that people can look things up about you.  One or the other should probably go.

Starting lifestyle is middle, so (4d6+X) * 100 nuyen to begin with.
No leftover nuyen from chargen; X = 0. I actually had to pull a license and some AK ammo off the tab to get things equalized.
