>>>>>[Ouroborous, Siouxsie's new, so he doesn't get that in a lot of ways, there's a fundamental split between the grove and the clan. The grove really is a lot like the Wiccans you just described. Peace, love, harmony, and understanding. Nice people, really, REALLY nice people but seriously lacking in real-world experience. The clan is mostly the younger people who aren't content to sit there and wish really, really hard for a better world. They'd rather go out and do something about it.
You see, once upon a time, there were two groves in the area. The older of the two was the wish real hard to make the world a better place bunch. The younger was the people who went out into the world, and have become unofficial experts on the bad things out there, and wanted to put a permanent end to them. One got hit, and had a good chunk of their people wiped out by toxics. The other, founded by Uath and his uncle took in the survivors, and went hunting the toxics. After a bit, the peace-loving guys managed to get an idea going that the more violent folks had no place in the grove. So, they managed to create enough pressure internally that it was either going to end in bloodshed or they were going to be left helpless. So, the clan was formed, and anyone who wanted to do good deeds and kick bad guy hoop went with Uath into the clan. The small remainder stayed in the "official" grove.
The grove does have a lot of knowledge packed into their pointy little heads, but they let their politics influence their views a bit too much. These are the folks who didn't understand why so many people left the Ork Underground after it became an official district of Seattle. Unfortunately, they tend to look the part of the wise all-knowing druid a bit to well, so I can understand why Siouxsie might have gone to them for some answers.
The clan is really centered more around the families of the members, and going out into the real world and doing things to either make sure a danger doesn't come to them, or earn some nuyen to supplement what we have. Uath was running the shadows for years to feed the old grove, before he and his uncle founded the younger grove. Hell, quite a few of the clan do shadow work to feed everyone. A bit back, we had a Sioux come through, all puff and bluster. Members of the Grove backed off, "respecting his culture." Most members of the clan gave back as good as they got, and in one case, a troll flicked the Sioux's nose to make a point about visitors being polite. Now, whenever the Sioux's family needs a certain kind of expert, they go to the clan, and not the grove. They might not like many of us, but they seem to respect us more than the grove.
Is the Grove full of dirt-worshiping tree-huggers? Yes, I have to say you're dead on about that. Is the clan? Not really. But then, we don't seem to get a lot of access to knowledge that the folks in the grove get. But we get a few converts, and know how to keep our mouths shut about some topics.]<<<<<
