>>>>>[Removing temptations are well and good. What's more fun is finding those dirty little secrets for blackmail purposes. Or in creating the dirty little secrets in the first place. There's a certain human lady in the Seattle government (I won't say who) that had a moment of weakness, and brought an elf 'escort' home while her husband was out of town. Too bad for her the elf recorded everything, yeah? The setup's easy enough to follow. Support the push to recognize the Underground, and she doesn't become the newest feature on a couple dozen porn sites, with links sent to the various news nets. That would really ruin her 'family values' rep. Lady's white bread and straight laced in public, but she was into some real kinky drek.]<<<<<

>>>>>[Tir Tairngir. There's something about the local water that makes whiskey made there better than other places. Probably the levels of magic in the area. The Tir na Nog crowd are too busy with their dreams to make decent whiskey any more.

Just remember, when you're doing this kind of work, wear nanopaste, either when posing as the escort, or when making the blackmail demands. I like masking spells, but unless you're advanced enough that you can hide your aura, that's going to show up if someone's doing an astral scan, and can be dispelled, while nanopaste is hard to spot, and doesn't go away if another mage wants to see what's under the mask. That way, you keep your cover intact. If you don't let people know you're awakened, then it is easy as pie to get a license as an escort, or to find a fake one. But no need to go burning a perfectly good ID unless you gotta, right?

Well, I'll hop off now. The kid's back. Bruises still all over his body, but he's in a much better frame of mind, for the moment. So I'm off to teach him how not to hurt himself.]<<<<<

I had a team member back in the day who couldn't shoot straight to save his live until after he had a couple of shots of Tequila. After though, he could take any shot you asked him to make. He had more notches on his staff than anyone else on the team and was one of the Famous Four - one of only four people who survived our time in Aztlan. Sadly, retirement didn't agree with him, and he OD'ed. ]<<<<<

>>>>>[Even if try, I don't think I could think of one favorite. I like to try new things too much. I travel a lot and I always try local specialties. I liked the beer in Belgium, Germany and Quebec, the whiskey in Scotland (scotch), in Kentucky (bourbon), the tequila in Aztlan, the sake in Japan, the vodka in Russia, the wine in Europe and Argentina... Well the list goes on. And thanks to Money I have now tried some mighty fine booze from Tir na nOg! And I don't think there's any drug I haven't tried either. I mean I don't really do drugs regularly, I just take them once or twice just to try and never touch that specific drug ever again. Life's short, well mine will be, and I don't have time for favorites. Advice to anyone from a not-so-wise man, stop talking and just, well, just drink!

And talking about drinking, happy new year! Even if it's not the new year on my calendar!]<<<<<

>>>>>[ Malek’thas -- you mean Salem.  You're talking about Ludo's, down on Lancaster, used to be 'Eryn Galen'.  I don't care what lies Elurín told anyone, he never distilled an ounce of what Ludo makes.  I'll give you that there's a bit of magic in his scotch, but it's all him; testing two years ago confirmed he's an adept, Artisan's Way.  Did time in the Glengoyne in Scotland, Bushmill's in Ireland, and Buffalo Trace in Kentucky; took a couple months years in Eastern Europe in there somewhere, learned how to make ouzo.  Never got specific about that one with me, for some reason.
That aside, he does make the finest whiskey west of the Mississippi.  He's also the only troll I know who can make mead, ouzo, Taéngelé, and Xtabantun.  Where he picked up that last, God only knows, but if he ever offers a glass from his personal barrel, do not turn him down.
God, though, you sound like Tarlan Bloody Greenbough.  "Tir Tairngire is so wonderful," he kept on about, "oh, our wonderful Native Lands."  Bloody nitwit, him and you both; "nothing is as good as Tir Tairngire" -- a country which created itself through betrayal, propaganda, and pandering.  Sure they were good at it; even I fell prey to it, but after seeing what else they did to those who didn't fit in with their 'plan' -- and seeing the other elves who were going all Tolkienesque -- I knew I had to get back out.  They didn't have the juice on the computer side yet, so ... here I am.
Get this through your head, though -- elves, orks, trolls, dwarves -- we don't have native lands as species.  Hell, I still think of myself as an American; I grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  My mom and dad shit a brick, I kid you not, when they saw my ears, but they brought me up like any other Midwesterner -- work hard, do your best, play fair, win modest and lose gracious.  I went to Undue Perversity (Go Hoosier Hacker House!!), shit went down from there.  But get the double rainbows out of your eyes -- Tir Tairngire is no more wonderful or magical than any other place.  It was, in fact, much, much worse -- just like every other totalitarian fascist state.
One of the few good results of Crash 2.0. ]<<<<<

>>>>>[Porn and sexual exploits are not the only blackmail material availible. Money, you may find this interesting if you don't alredy know it. A certain conservative politico running on a 'return to the basics that once made us great' platform recently tried to employ me to remove his kid's magical ability. I have proof enough that he tried it before and failed. If it's of use to you, let me know. Kid's desperate to get out from under his father's thumb. He practicaly begged me to help him escape or to kill him. I hate to admit it, but he touched a nerve. If there's anything you can do to this guy without ruining your own runs, I'd be grateful. If not, then I'll organise an extraction and smuggle him out. Poor kid deserves better than to be scarred for the sake of his father's political ambitions.

Oh! And Money? I looked into the info you gave me about Hispano-Suiza. Dead on. I've taken the car to Susan Hands as Wings. She promissed me I wouldn't recognise it by the time she's done with it. Not sure I like the sound of that... ]<<<<<

>>>>>[Wow, someone's bitter. Where'd I ever mention anything about 'native lands' and all that? Someone upset that they didn't get a seat at the table while things were getting set up?

And do you really think things are all that much better outside Tir Tairngir? Let's take a stroll around Seattle. How much sway you got with the government doesn't have jack to do with your vote, but how many zeroes are in your cred balance, or what dirt you got on certain individuals. The rich get richer, and the poor can go frag themselves. Only difference between that and Cara-sir is that they used to be honest about it in Cara-sir, with none of this illusion of giving the people a choice. You really think it matters to the average person who wins the governor's race? How great were things for metas and the poor while Strouthers was in charge? Did a great job of improving people's lives, didn't he? Really kept the corps in check, yes? Only change between then and now is the uniform the cops wear, and the fact that the guy at the top likes to wear a hood and a sheet from time to time. At least they were honest about how things stood in Tir Tairngir, before the revolt.

Betrayal, propaganda, pandering? Ask Money Johnson, how many runs he's put together just this election cycle that revolve around one of those three things. That is how government works, how it has ALWAYS worked. Even on the streets of Lagos, where little warlords control a block here or there, that's how it works. Same in Tir Tairngir. Same in London. Same in CalFree. Same in Japan. Same in every fragging nation on the planet. The Tir's just honest about it. So get off your high horse, Wyrm.

Now, the Tir is my native land. Born and raised there, since a couple years after it was founded. I never once said that it was a native land for all elves. But there's nothing saying it wasn't, back in the Fourth World. Only people who would know certainly aren't going to speak to you, one way or another.

As for my comment about magic in the soil, that's not just drek. There's ley lines crossing all over the place here. They do some real interesting things to the soil, especially when someone awakened works it. As for the tavern, I actually meant the Power Focus. Name sounds better in Sperethiel, but most things do. Anyways, you can find it in a back alley off 12th St NE, near Court St NE. Staff is all awakened, and they've got some anchored spells putting on an astral light show. Don't bother going if you've got obvious chrome, or if you're anything but an elf. You can usually find some of the movers and shakers in the city government in there, when they want to talk biz, or just get away from the office. Food's good, and they keep the riff-raff away. Lucinda, the owner, is a Count, and owns the whole block. She did a little remodeling in the basement, and has a full distillery down there, in addition to an enchantment shop she rents out to select clients. Best whiskey in the Tir, bar none, but she only sells to Noble rank and higher. I get Lucinda to send me a case once a month. Great place to meet a contact in the local government. For Ghost's sake don't start trouble in her place, though. Lucinda is a Paladin to one of the Princes. Won't say who, but you couldn't pay me enough to risk getting on her bad side.

Madre, let me know if you want a little extra firepower on that extraction. And after, if the kid doesn't want to go to the shadows, I can make a couple calls, see if I can't get him someplace where they'll at least pay him well for his service.

Now if you excuse me, I have a naked woman about to serve me breakfast in bed. Happy New Year to me!]<<<<<
