HK XM30 question

I am reading this right?
found on SR4 319
HK XM30: This award-winning modular “weapons platform”
can turn a single soldier into a one-man army. The baseline assault rifle
features lightweight composite construction, a smartgun system, rigid
stock with shock pad, and an underbarrel grenade launcher with grenade
link. The weapon may be reassembled with optional modules—
taking an Automatics + Agility (5, 1 minute) Extended Test to swap
them in—into either an underbarrel shotgun, compact carbine, sniper
rifle (with an imaging scope), or LMG (with bipod) configuration.

underbarrel grenade launcher and underbarrel shotgun?!!?

I could ideally put a Exchangeable Weapon Modification either one or both?

no, you rebuild it into a diferent module depending on what you want to rock with, it doesnt have both at the same time. given the time it takes to re-configure it, you wont be doing it in combat!

maybe not during combat, but during a run is still possible, just realize, you're carrying all the excess parts you plan to use with you the whole time.

Bummer. There was a reason i was asking about this weapon.

The plan was I was thinking about was putting a Exchangeable Weapon Modification on both the underbarrel grenade launcher and underbarrel shotgun.
Next I was going to a powered slide mount  on both the main rifle HK XM30 rifle and  HK XM30 LMG(with bipod) configuration. This was to allow the HK XM30 LMG(minus the bipod) rock with the  underbarrel grenade launcher and allow to put the underbarrel shotgun on the HK XM30 rifle.


Oh well.  :(

Love the XM8 series, my second favourite gun after the HK G36C.

The XM30 seems to be the further development of the concept here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OICW , in particular:

HK XM29 OICW - a 20mm grenade launcher with an underslung assault carbine - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XM29_OICW
XM25 CDTE - aka "The Punisher", further development of XM29. 25mm grenade launcher with airburst mode. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XM25_CDTE
XM8 - "modular" rifle, converts between barrel length and chambering with relative ease. Sorta complementary to XM25. - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XM8_rifle

aw man looking at these gives me goose bumps hehe. Especially the XM29 with the HE airburst  ammo & under-slung assault rifle.

Powered Slide Mount for secondary weapons is something that always requires GM approval, but if the GM will let you, there is no reason to feel forced to the XM30. The Shotgun on the XM30 is one of the worse ones in the game (+1 AP instead of -1).

One of my players has taken an FN-HAR and uses powered slide mount to move between a single barrel Elephant Rifle (Underbarrel Weapon Mod halves ammunition) loaded with APDS for penetration, a drum fed HV SMG for suppressive spray, and an Enfield AS-7 for breaching. The same character uses a HK-227 X that has swappable Dart Pistol and Fichetti Executive Action underbarrel weapons for it. He keeps the Fichetti loaded up with Stick-N-Shock for taking down guards and the Dart Pistol with Narcojet for heavy hitters like Trolls That shrug off the taze with ease.

Who needs to breach with a shotgun when you can breach with an Assault Cannon?

Someone who doesn't have "Heavy Weapons" but does have "Longarms"?

EDIT:  Now, who needs to breech with a firearm of any type when you can breech with a Troll?  ;D

Reminds me of the one troll I played in third that kept 20 kg of rating 12 explosives wired to him in case he was ever tazed.  ::)
