You know, you could always take the Greyhound...
By "take", I assume you mean "Hijack". ;)
"Take this bus to San Diego!!!"  "Um...  Our last stop is in San Diego."  "Oh...  It is?  Sorry."  "Damned cosplayers.  Every time I get this fragging route."
BEST SHADOWRUN ALIBI EVER.

No security corp officer would look twice at a bunch of nerds dressed up as anime/manga/videogame/sci-fi trid show characters during the convention seasons. Hell, if you "forget" to peacebond your weapon (melee only, though), you cover story could be that you forgot, or you just act like such an fan about it that it "wouldn't fit the character" or that "I wanted to show off how realistic my prop is".

...Well, maybe not a good alibi, but it does sound like the base idea of a fun shadowrun. :D

Well, Kane and Kat actually did that in one of the pieces of fiction, dressing as a bounty hunter and jedi to get into San Diego during a con. I believe it was in one of the PDF books. Perhaps CanRay would be kind enough as to mention which one. ;)

Clonetrooper, actually, not Bounty Hunter.

I can't quite remember which book that was, however...

I agree, we must kill him until he tells us where the real CanRay is, and then kill him some more. :)

Seconded.

Anyway, as an attempt to get this back on topic... ::)

Looking at Used Car Lot and Arsenal, you could try making a sort of mobile fortress using an 18 wheeler with a trailer as a sort of base template, maybe the Zuggsmaschine in Arsenal (pg 111), or the Trailblazer in Used Car Lot (pg 23). You could put concealed gun ports all over the trailer and armor the outside, and possibly place a remote controlled turret or two on top, controlled by a second rigger in the cab.

You could go the Go-Ganger route and just tell them to pick out a motorcycle that they would like to have, with two custom mods each under 10,000 nuyen each.

Have you considered a boat instead? A yacht could handle a large party, if your players somehow ponied up the cash. Failing that, a pair of utility watercraft...

Failing that, you could try to cut down on your party to two separate teams. I hate to say this, but are you sure about GMing a ten to twelve person team? It would seem that combat would get bogged down awful quick which would bore the people who were hoping for a roleplay-over-rollplay experience, and that the chances to focus on story or details would be problematic with the opposite group if they just want to kill stuff and get loot.

Regardless, there you go. Hope this game works out for you!

Or a pair of skidoos on the yacht.  Full of beautiful rich people there for a different type of "party", and giving the group a great cover (Bodyguards.).

They'll probably even bring their own Novacoke to share!

You don't roleplay during your combat? That's diffrent from how it happens for us then, at least ^^

Well, there's only so much roleplay you can do in Combat Time. Assuming 10 Players with 3 IPs each, and a brisk 1 minute per player per IP, you're taking 10 minutes real-time per in-game second just for the PC actions.

Can't argue with that ^^

We try to have the melodramatic death speeches after combat ends. THEN comes the angsty, anime-esque weepy boo-hoo stuff. ;D

Even have a house rule saying you can burn Edge to make an overly dramatic dying speech after combat ends, in order to give your leftover Edge to your surviving teammates.

Up to a point. ::)

Um, why don't you just burn edge to Hand Of God and survive?

Because it's just as much about the story, and it's the perfect ending to theirs maybe?
