As soon as the mage shares her commcode with the group, Rybka add her to their encrypted communications channel. And sends her a small report, which she has been working on on the last moments:
[File: A very spoiled run]
>> Here's the amount of info we can share of the current situation of things:
>> Before this night, we didn't know each other; this is not an established 'runner team.
>> We we're hired by this individual [annexed file: still shots of the Johnson during the meeting annexed] to "retrieve some information to him". Said information was to be stored into a commlink which was due to be transported during this night in a two-car convoy. Our job was to steal the 'link and deliver it to the Johnson.
>> Inspection on Mr. Johnson's bodyguards show tattoos [annexed file: Totenkopf 875 tattoo] that imply they belong to "875" (that name was given by KE, there's still doubts as to what they call themselves), a new gang in Lynnwood which seems to act more on military procedure than your typical gang.
>> Johnson's information says we should expect this "two-car convoy" to be well-armed and our only specification is that we should bring back the commlink, no matter what and how.
>> We set the convoy a, ambush, but discovered they were far better equipped than initially though. The guys were carrying some military equipment, and among their people there were some good hackers protecting their lines.
>> Anyway, the cargo was stolen: a warded shielded box [annexed file: still of the box];
>> When the box was opened, no commlink was found, instead there was a book (physical format) which was obviously bad news [annexed file: still of "The Blood"];
>> Our research on the book so far has uncovered the following data:
>> The book is written in old Germanic, and even a quick look shows it to be quite old;
>> Electronic sensors have difficulty getting precise images of the text in it, and Awakened individuals get the "real bad feeling" near it;
>> Matrix searches on the book found this matches:
>> Results of the search were equally paired with "raising the dead" sites and conspiracy theory sites;
>> The book seems to be called "The Blood", believed to be written by a Kemmler; pre-first World War information paints him as a crazy prophet;
>> Assensing the Book has clarified it's obviously a necromancy tome;
>> By this point, th group does not know anymore what to do; no commlink was found, and even though that's what would make this be another well-done job, should we deliver the damn book? Nobody felt comfortable with the idea;
>> In our investigations, we went to a mage, a "friend of a friend", who told us (a bit reluctantly) that this book is the first of a series of three written by this Kemmler guy (The Blood,The Body and The Mind), all of them about getting power and twisting Mother Nature ordinary work with some nasty surprises. Hope you like The Three Muskeeters, as why the legends go, this trilogy may in fact by completed by a fourth tome (the rumored The Word). Our contact said Kemmler was a crazy but quiet man, who could do some nifty tricks on the time of the dead magic; there's word that he may found a recipe for immortality (the chummer who provided us this info regarded this bit as bullshit); his opinion was that the best course of action was to burn it;
>> And here we are. Although our initial idea was to maybe put up a scam on Mr. J. (forging the book or the like), we were abandoned by our previous mage, and we found out we needed some magical backup; here's where you get into the boat.
>>END OF REPORT
After some moments, the tech-girl asks with a smile: "Questions?"
