"Just a second, let me summon a guardian angel before we leave," Sammy said.  She started visualising her runes again and soon she had a fire spirit in front of her.
"Guard this house and the people in it," she said, "nobody is allowed to enter except the people and spirits currently inside and the one person on the outside."
"Thy will be done," replied the spirit.
Sammy nodded and turned to the people close by.
"I've put a fire spirit as watchdog on the house," she said, "If the fireballs start flying, have a look what's going on, okay.  I'm going to see with our other mage if we can locate our equipment.  Don't stay up, this can take a while."

Sammy sat down and left her body, joining Heron on the astral plane.
"I'm following your lead.  Show the way."

As Sammy arrives in the astral plane, Heron turned to his spirit.

After a quick workout and some meditation Johnny came into the cabin. He laid his blanket out in front of the inside of the door and slept.

The ghastly forest was a chilling sight, which confirmed for Fionn more than anything else that his body was in a dead zone - the sprite set the shape of their arena, but under normal circumstances the ubiquitous flow of data would have populated it.  Rather than alive with the dance of inter-node traffic, the trees were transparent, and yet not; where birds should alight the branches, there was nothing.  No foliage, nor underbrush, just a creeping mist at his feet.  There was a certain intrinsic wrongness to this environment, and he could do nothing to abate it.  He did not, however, have to let it defeat him.

In the mist that was the forest floor, he caught the edges of a wispy trail before it vanished.  Whether it was that of the sprite he struggled against, or of their mutual prey, he could not know.  No matter the source, though, he was confident following it would be to his advantage.  Taking a cue from what the wolf had done in their initial encounter, he let his form spread through the trees, and a dozen images of himself mirrored his movements as he followed the trail.  It may be this sidhe expects that this will be easy.  That would not be a wise assumption to make...

Off to his left, he thought that he heard something - but he could not be sure.  His mind may well have been playing tricks on him.  You must keep hold of yourself, lest all be lost.

The trail led him to a small clearing with a cliff overlooking it.  While most saw the prey, a shade of a stag, one of his many selves saw a new trail leading up a path to reach the clifftop; Fionn recognized the significance of it at once.  A hunter indeed, lying in wait and letting his prey draw in towards him...  If I am to win his respect, beating him with his own methods would be effective indeed..  He allowed the form that found the trail to take the path up to the clifftop, making as though ready to leap down upon the stag and strike.  For his own part, Fionn's true self made ready to hurl the spear.  And he waited, watching with one hidden pair of eyes the space behind his bait-double.  Sure enough, the massive, otherworldly wolf coalesced behind the figure.  Hold...  I need to time this perfectly....

As the beast drew nearer, the double made ready to strike.  Believing it was about to lose it's moment, the hunter leapt for the figure - precisely as intended; the figure vanished the moment the wolf was committed to the leap.  In a flurry of motion, Fionn brought his doubles into himself, hurled the spear at the stag, called forth a new weapon (a sword, this time), and made to intercept the wolf's trajectory as it fell, having overshot the cliff without an impact to slow it.  In the next second, the spear took the stag in the neck, as Fionn collided with the sprite in the air.  They wrestled for position in the air, the beast coming out on top.  It made directly for Fionn's neck - but stopped cold as the edge of Fionn's blade came up against its throat.

"Hm.  You have let your prey come to you, leaping into the jaws of it's own end.  A far better showing than I had expected, arlasaí.  Quite well indeed, given that you've matched wits against a power greater than you'd intended.  You shall have my respect, young one; call upon me when you have need."  The voice rumbled in his head, but somehow all aggression had gone out of it.

With that, the wolf vanished, taking with him the wasteland he'd called up.  Fionn was relieved indeed to be out of the woods, so to speak, but unsure what it meant about being a power greater than he'd intended to call.

Back in meatspace, his eye's opened some five hours after he'd begun.  He checked himself for signs that he'd endured some harm, but the only sign of the ordeal was a dull ache behind his eyes.  It had been hours, and yet seemed not to take even one - familiar as it was, this incongruity of the passage of time was something he still hadn't gotten used to.  Getting up to stretch his legs for a moment, he went to look out the cabin window before going to bed, appreciating the beauty of the forest as seen though nothing more than moonlight.

The second day of enforced nature appreciation begins in the wee hours of the morning, in that time between the witching hour and the breakfast hour that most city dwellers and shadowrunners refer to as ‘last call’, an interesting archaic term from the last century which used to indicate when bars actually closed.  Nowadays it is simply a signal to wage slaves that they have crossed the barrier between having a bad day at work and having to start coming up with a suitable ailment to explain their absence.

Out here in the woods it is simply another hour of darkness.  The mages have long since given over their search to their spirits and tried eke out a few hours’ sleep.  The return of the spirits and the subtle movements of the spirits’ masters begin to rouse the entire cabin from slumber.  Rapid reconnaissance of the findings show that the focus searched for to be in a shielded, but otherwise undefended location on the southern end of Puget Sound, in an unoccupied building north of the Tacoma docks.

Once the mages have sufficiently oriented themselves that they are confident in their ability to locate the meatspace location of the focus, they return to the cabin with just enough time to ensure the companionship of their spirits, plus a bit extra before dawn will steal their service.

Heron sped back to his body. Twin emotions of elation and raw seething anger playing across his aura.

Approaching the being of fire summoned by Sammy, he bowed low.
My thanks to you on a job well done.

Turning to his spirit he again bowed low before grasping its arm in a friendly grip.
Damn good work my friend. Now go have fun before the sun is up.

Stretching and easing his tired body awake he got up to go bang on the cooking pot.
Ahh glad to see everyone is awake.
So who wants to make me and Sammy some breakfast?

Oh by the way we've got the location of a soon to be burning building, well soon as in right after we get done with the mind frakking sons of slots that took our stuff that are currently in it.

"I thank you for your help," Sammy said to her spirit before dismissing it.  She had to let it go on its own for some time, while she tried to get some sleep, but she had woken up just before dawn to see what the spirits had discovered.  And it wasn't the first time she had gone to a party to quite late and got up for work the following day.

"So, what's for breakfast," she asked, "we need something to eat before we go pay a visit to some people."

O'Connor still brushing off sleep, said  listlessly, "Mornin'. I doubt any of ya is gonna want me to handle breakfast, unless you all like your food burnt all to hell." He let out a yawn, followed by a grimace, This bust rib bullshit needs to go. He rubbed his eyes in an attempt to dispel the post waking grogginess, "You sure the guys with our shit are the ones that nabbed us? Cause they mighta just pawned it for the extra nuyen."

Rubbing the sleep out of his face, Sam looked around. "There any soykaf in this place? Or maybe some of that old coffee stuff...seems more like the sort of thing Blackeagle'd go for." Damn, I miss room service, he thought again.

Turning to Heron, he said, "How close is this building? Any idea about its defenses, guards, that sort of thing? I hate to remind everyone, but whoever took our gear must've managed to take all of us out once already--and done so when we weren't wearing borrowed clothing with nothing but a hunting knife and an old rifle between the eight of us."

Johnny opened his eyes and sat up still as sore as he was the morning before. Today will be a test.
"Breakfast sounds stellar. I'll help cook if we have any ingredients." He stood and began folding the blanket he used last night. "And while I want my stuff back I'd prefer not to lose my memory again. I think caution and reconnaissance might be the first step. How far is it anyway?"

"Maybe they took us all out seperately," Sammy said, "but wether that's true or not, it doesn't matter.  We can go to that building and do some recon as soon as we're closer.  We can then decide if we're going in or not.  First we have to get there, that's the first order of business.  Get to civilisation to check up on what's going on.  And to have us all checked for hidden RFIDs, just to be sure."

Well me and Sammy were heavy on the stealth and light on everything else so we know a few things.
One. It's an unoccupied building near Tacoma docks. So about 200ks away.
Two. It was warded against astral beings etc.
Three. There didn't appear to be anyone actually there last night but I wouldn't bet on that being true when we get back to retrieve the stuff.

Sam grunted. "200 k...I'm honestly not sure that old heap out front would get us that far. Definitely wouldn't be a comfortable ride. Sammy's magic showers are nice and all, but cramming all of us into that thing for a three or four hour trip? No offence to her, but I don't think she's got enough magic to keep us all sane that long."

He continued, "I say we get down to Yakima and see if we can..."liberate" some replacement gear, maybe grab another vehicle or two. I can ask around while y'all are "shopping" and see if I can dig up any leads on why the hell we were dropped out in the back-end of nowhere rather than dropped in the Sound with concrete shoes. Someone wanted us out of the way, but not dead; maybe someone in Yak knows something that'll help us figure out who and why. And, of course, Fionn should be able to do some poking around once we get back to civilization."

O'Connor turned to Red, "Can your tech magic help us out with our cash flow problem? I don't mind mugging a bunch of locals once we get to town, but that'll take a bit of time and has its own risks."

"Might be able to do something about our money issues, yeah.  Need some gear to work with first, so we'll have to see about that...  As far as hidden tags go, though, we're in the clear there - I spent the better part of yesterday scanning for any hidden signals; I would have picked up on them."  Fionn got up and stretched.  "Getting ahold of a more modern set of wheels probably won't be all that difficult, though we'd best save that for when we're leaving town, just to be on the safe side.  We're gonna need to rely on a bit more of a subtle touch than running around mugging people, I think.  How long do we figure before we get there?"
