Heron simply shook his head. They were in a bad situation, and while it wasn't as bad as it had been, it was still a long way from good. Still, it could definitely be worse. Hopefully a bit of optimism would help swing things their way. Probably wouldn't, though. Anyways, he waited while the others took their calls, trying to get through to their contacts. If they didn't come back with good news, then he'd try his, though he doubted his would get any better.

Sammy also took one of the commlinks.  First of all she sent a message to her brother that she would be out of contact for a couple of days and not to worry and also not to have parties in her house.  Then she contacted the one person she could be calling, which was her talismonger back in Seatlle.  She still knew a some people in LA, but she assumed as everybody here was from the Seattle area, that this was where the run originated.

O'Connor grabbed one of the commlinks and went outside to make his call. It took him a moment to dredge up from memory the number of his best friend/gunsmith/quasi-fixer Darrel. As the ringtone droned on, Come on omae, pick up. I really need you to pick up man.

A mixture of emotions fly across the face of Matthew Blue Sky and eventually settle on a study in calm professionalism.  "How every you want to handle it sir, I am really interested in getting some real experience.  Not a lot of folks hiring around here for technical work if you have a record.  Anyway, we will need to meet a guy who can put us in touch with the pilot, I will have to go with you, because he is kinda touchy about meeting new people.  He is gonna be at the truckstop out at the end of old 80."

Shortly there after, the team from Ares-mart arrives at the diner.

Sam nodded, still smiling. "Of course. We don't want to be...misunderstood." Seeing the "muscle" entering the cafe, he stood up. "You'll have to pardon me, I'm afraid; I see that some of the crew have returned, and I'm afraid I need to keep fairly close tabs on them sometimes. Enjoy your fries; I'll be back in a bit."

He stood up and turned and walked back to Sammy's table. Watching the rest of the team grabbing for 'links like addicts suffering withdrawal, Sam thought to himself, Damnit, if anything's going to blow our cover, it's going to be that sort of behavior. To Clem's question, he grinned and replied, keeping his voice low, "Don't worry about that. Deals are easy. The young gentleman in the corner has kindly offered to make introductions for us at a truck stop; I suggest a small group of us go with him. Say, myself, Ms. Delavine, and one or two of the rest of you?"

O’Connor:
The dwarf looks concerned when he answers the link, “Hey mano, I was starting to get worried about you.  No word after taking that job, no sign of you on the streets, no corpses wearing Fist colors turning up…like you fell off the fraggin’ planet.  Cyan didn’t finally get her hooks in ya did she?  I ain’t raisin’ no babies here.”

(Cyan is a hood rat that had a thing for O’Connor back in the day)

Clementine:
“YAKIMA?  Where the frag is that?  No scratch?  I can arrange a loan, friendly rates, if you think it’ll help.  I don’t have much else for you at the moment.  I can help more when you are in the ‘plex.”

Sammy:
“Cantrips and Curios, how can I he…Oh hello Samantha, how are you?”

O'Connor grimaced at the thought of being saddled with a screaming brat, "Oh god, frag that shit. Nah man, that job you lined me up with has gone a bit south. Me an' the crew I was set up with all woke up on the side of a fraggin' mountain yesterday with no clothes, no guns, no cash, and no memory of the job, the Johnson, or how we ended up on that damn mountain. Right now some of the others are workin' on a way to get us back into town. What I'm worried 'bout is if the Johnson is lookin' to clean this mess up. Can ya put out some feelers and let me know what we'll be walkin' into? Oh and, either way, we're gonna need hardware for eight, but like I said we ain't exactly got cash at the mo."

Heron breathed a bit easier once it was clear that people were able to get through to their contacts back in Seattle. That'd make things easier. While he knew James, his fixer, could probably rustle up a ride to get them back to Seattle, they weren't exactly on the level where he'd do it for free, or even for a favor to be paid later. The man had connections, but he was strictly business, which Heron could respect, but it didn't do them much good out here. His other contacts wouldn't be much use for getting them in from the wild, so it was best to let the others do their thing, and ready some magical support if it was needed.

Leaning back in his chair, he closed  his eyes as he slipped into the astral. Summoning a spirit into the open like this wouldn't be wise, which is why he would make the call in the astral. In his astral form, he focused his will, and said, in an imperious tone, "Primal flame, come to my side!" The astral space rippled next to him, and then burst into flame, as the fiery figure appeared next to him. "Good. Stay hidden in the astral until I call." Spirits were a tricky bunch, so it was best to be firm in your command of them, or things could get messy.

The spirit under his command, Heron returned to his body, opening his eyes once again.

<OOC> Summoning a Spirit of Fire to keep on hand for later (Just in case). Force 4.
Summoning: 10d6.hits(5)=6
Spirit Roll: 4d6.hits(5)=2
Resist 4 Drain: 12d6.hits(5)=5

So the spirit shows up, and I soak the drain fine. I have 4 services from the spirit, and the optional power it has will be Fear.

"Thank you Hiroshi, I know I can always count on you. Let me talk with the rest of the crew and see how much we need and I'll get back to you."

Clementine goes to the team and pulls Fionn and Sam over with a simple "we need to talk", away from the rest of the team but also away from curious patrons. "I just got in contact with my fixer and he can arrange for a loan. Before you ask me, I trust him, but he's in business, so it'll come with an interest rate. If one of you can negotiate and get a price on that smuggling route, I can arrange for the money."

"That's gonna be more Sam's area than mine; I can play backup as needed, as you've seen, but I take the impression that he's more the specialist.  Should mention, though - I'm already a bit in the hole with my fixer; not sure if your guy is gonna have an issue with that or not."  He turned to Sam.  "You got anyone you should call?  I've got these things pretty well locked down, so you should be safe to do it."

"I got some random stuff laying around, nothing real heavy and nothing remotely like the pieces I made you before.  By the way, you better find those pieces, I know you paid for them, but that is MY WORK.  How are you gonna get me business if you're killing punks with a stock Roomsweeper?  I would think if the Johnson was looking for you I woulda heard from him by now, but yeah I'll poke around. " the dwarf didn't look happy at the idea of leaving his shop.  O'Connor could guess that he had a project, so there were parts all over his squat, looking like chaos but with everything perfectly catalog in Darrell's brain.

"You think I ain't pissed about these assholes jackin' my pieces man? They gonna pay when I catch up to 'em. 'Ey man, I appreciate your help. I'll give ya a call when I'm back in town. Later, Shortstack." After he finished his call, O'Connor returned to the group, "Got a buddy of mine feeling out the situation back home, and he'll line us up with some hardware too. How're things on your guys' end?"

Clem turns to O'Connor and says, in a low voice, "I found us a loan to pay for our trip back to Seattle, but someone needs to negotiate the price with the coyotes."

"Could be better, James," Sammy said, "we woke up yesterday on a mountain without clothes or memories why and how we got there.  I actually have no clue as to what the actual job was all about, as apparently we've had a dose of Laes. One moment..."

She looked at the rest of the team when Clem announced she could get some money.
"I can do the negotiations with Sam if it's okay with him," she said, "the sooner we're back in Seattle, the better.  And as soon as we know who's responsible for this, we can recover the money by either picking Mr. J clean for double crossing us, or the target we had as revenge."

"Sorry, team conversation," she said to James, "on how to get back to Seattle as we're in Yakima, some small village in the Salish Sidhe territory.  Now, could you put some feelers out on what's going on.  Oh, and could you please check on Marcus to see if he's okay?"
