Title: [OOC] Honest to god milk runs, Part 3- (Wreckanize Rale)
Post by: Poindexter on <03-10-15/2213:44>
Ok, folks, the three runners selected for this simple mission are...

1- FP, Ork Melee Adept, created by Nevyn
2- Byte, Human Decker, created by Byte
3- Viso, Human Face, created by 8-bit

Welcome to Jacksonville, Old Jack City as the locals call it. It's hot 10 months out of the year, during which it rains at 3 o'clock every day for about 20 minutes to an hour, but sometimes for days. For the other two months, its just as wet, but cold. Really cold. Like, right next to the Atlantic ocean cold. Never QUITE cold enough to freeze for longer than a day at a time, leaving the place choked in a layer of slush the entire time. It's one of the oldest cities on the continent, and as far as land space goes, THE largest. It's got a port and a naval base, but neither one are of much importance. There are far better places on the shore for both those activities than here, so there's not many jobs at the port and not many tips from the sailors.

Due to the geographical uniqueness of the place, being a city, more or less surrounded by rivers and swamps, it can be a little tricky for newcomers to get around. If you're not on autopilot, expect to make NAV rolls, and expect them to be harder if you lack the Area Knowledge: Jacksonville skill. Naturally divided into little sections by rivers and the bridges that run over them, it's an incredibly segregated place. You're NEARLY as likely to be accosted for "walking while squish" as you are for "driving while trog" It's also very religiously intolerant. You will NOT be hired for most conventional 9-5  jobs, no matter how minor if you are openly non-christian. Even among christians, Non-southern baptists are viewed with suspicion, although not outwardly scorned.

Most people here are lazy as shit. The mayor, the clergy, the workers, the drug dealers, the cops, the strippers, the soldiers, the gang bangers, the garbage men, you name it. Something about the heat just fucks with people's priorities. Whether you fall into the same category as the rest or not is ALL up to you, but I felt it bared mentioning that things are WAY more laid back in Old Jack City than in Chicago, Seattle, or Denver. A good place for a person, new to the shadows to get their feet wet. An even BETTER place for an experienced runner, trying to lay low, but still make a little cash to keep the belly full while on the lam. And it's a perfect place for new relationships to be born and for old ones to die. Something about the forceful salty wind that comes off the beach has a way of eroding everything in time.

Here's some basic info on the main large gangs in the area.

1- Red five: a go gang from the Atlantic beach area, They're mainly about extortion, smuggling, and mayhem for the sake of fun. Wear red X's and talk in star wars lingo. has no "official" leadership, but a guy who calls himself "Grand Moffuckin' Tarkin" seems to have a lot of pull with the rest of the squad. moreso than most, probably just cause he has the biggest balls.
2- Krubb Force: a primarily goblin gang from the emerson/phillips highway area. Drugs, gambling, prostitution. No identifying markers, but they only speak or'zet, and with a heavy local dialect, so non-members are fairly easy to root out. Locals ONLY.  Headed up by an aging ork called Twine. He's smarter than he is ruthless, which is considerable. He runs the group almost like a business and so has several lower ranking officers as well as division heads and project managers.
3- Dixie Sisters Gang: A largely human inbred family run gang in the westside. Specializes in drug manufacture, manufacture and modification of illegal gear, chop shops, etc. All keep Green bandanas somewhere on their person. headed up by Jolene and Tammy Dixie, two hardcore old human ladies, chromed to bejeezus and mean as hornets.
4- Hermanos: An all awakened and spanish speaking gang that runs riverside efficiently and with nearly no violence. They're all about protection rackets, gambling, and extortion. run by complete democracy with no leaders of any sort.

Unknown by anyone outside gang circles, but suspected by some who care in police and the media, there has been a somewhat official gang truce in effect for almost 10 years now, with profits soaring for everyone involved.

I would like each of you three, in whatever order you choose, to post up your character sheets as well as backstory and BRIEF physical appearance (once they're finished) before anyone posts anything else. We can keep chatting in the recruiting thread until then.

-- General Information --
Name: Antonio Bellini Confortola
Alias: Viso
Sex: Male
Metatype: Human
Age: 27
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Black
Height/Weight: 182.88 cm (6 ft.)/ 91 kilograms (~200 pounds)

[spoiler=Background]Antonio was born to a well-off Italian family, in the UCAS Sector of Denver. He was an only child. He didn't get to see his parents too much, as they were always busy working on their business. That didn't stop him from getting everything he ever wanted. He as mostly raised by a series of nanies, his parents were just a distant source of cash for him. He became a real spoiled brat.

At 16, his parents bought him some cyberware and bioware for him. Alphaware grade, of course; they weren't going to get some Standard grade stuff that just came off the shelf.

At the age of 18, he was sent off to Harvard. So far, he had been living the good life, but his parents thought it might be good for Antonio to experience some "real" hardship. Their idea of "real" hardship was living in a college dorm with another human being. He roomed with a man named Paul Shellok, who came from a fairly poor family. While Antonio's overconfidence and overbearing attitude didn't change, he found himself becoming friends with Paul pretty quickly.

22 years old, he graduated with a major in Business. He was offered all sorts of jobs, but he turned them all down. As annoying as school was, it couldn't be worse than actually having to work for someone. He stayed another 4 years at Harvard, graduating a second time. During this time, he had done some thinking. He had always had a sort of rebellious streak, and the idea of working in the shadows really appealed to him.

He told his parents he had accepted a job in Seattle, and was moving there to work. They had fallen on some hard times, but they were still rich enough that they set up a trust fund to pay for his housing.

He found someone who would make him a fake SIN; he wasn't stupid enough to run under his own SIN. He then went out and got his eyes modified to have a smartlink to help him shoot. Buying a pistol, he practiced shooting in VR for a few days. He was ready; it couldn't be that hard, right?

He couldn't have been more wrong.

The first run went well, all things considering. What didn't go well was his part in it. He nearly had gotten killed, simply because he hadn't been fast enough, and all his VR training hadn't prepared him for this. He couldn't have hit the broadside of a barn when he was shooting under pressure. They had barely gotten out before the HTR teams arrived. Still, even though it had been the most terrifying time of his life; Antonio felt exhilirated when they made their getaway. It was even more satisfying when he got paid. He was determined to keep running, so he did what any rich kid would do when they weren't good enough to do something they wanted to do.

He took a shortcut.

Paul, his former rommate, had used his doctorate degree to start his own clinic in Seattle. He was quite good at what he did, but not so good with all the paperwork and such required to run a business.

Antonio called him up, and said he was in town. Paul was happy to reconnect with his former roomate, and they had a talk over dinner. He offered to help Paul out with his business, in return for a favor.

They shook hands over the deal and left separately. Antonio started helping sift through the paperwork and run the business side of things. It took Paul a few weeks to hold up his end.

"You have what I need?" Paul nodded. "When will you be ready?"

"Tonight."

Ever since he had finished his first run, he knew that he needed to be faster, stronger, and even better at convincing people. He'd already spent 8 years at college; he wasn't about to wait again. 'Ware would give him everything he needed, and all it required was a simple surgery. The 'ware was discounted, no less, because he had made a deal. Antonio couldn't wait to get back into the shadows.

Later that night, Antonio and Paul were in the sterilized surgery room. He was given an anesthetic, and didn't wake up until several days later.

Upon waking up, he immediately noticed a difference. He felt stronger. Something felt missing though; something human about him. When Paul came in to check on him, he had to force himself to smile. "Everything seems to be working Doc. I won't forget this." Paul just nodded and handed him his jacket.

Despite how he felt, the augmentations clearly helped. Antonio has been around Seattle for a few years, making a living for himself. He cut most of his ties to his first shadowrunning attempt, and now is working under the alias of Viso; literally meaning "face". Everyone in the shadows puts on a face, or a mask, of some sort; he was just admitting it.[/spoiler]

-- Contacts --
[spoiler="Gregory" | Fixer - Connection 5; Loyalty 2]
170.18 cm (5' 7"); 67.1317 kg (148 pounds); Blue Eyes; Blond Hair

Gregory is the only name that Viso knows him by; he's pretty sure that's not his real name. They've met face to face a couple of times, but Viso doesn't really know anything about him. Normally that would bother him, but hey, Gregory is good at what he does, so why ask questions? He doesn't seem to have an accent or any distinct ethnicity, and his tone has always been businesslike. Viso's used him to get just about anything and everything, and he always pull through. If there is one thing Gregory is, it's reliable.

Relationship to contact:

Once Viso went back out into the shadows, he knew he needed to get a good fixer. He did some poking around, and Gregory eventually came up in time. Viso managed to get someone to introduce them, and they've maintained a business relationship since. His network is mostly in Seattle, although his influence is fairly large.
[/spoiler]

[spoiler=Paul Shellok | Street Doc - Connection 3; Loyalty 4]
175.26 cm (5' 9"); 72.5748 kg (160 pounds); Green Eyes; Black Hair

Paul is a 26 year old Polish doctor. He came from a poor family, and he has a bit of a drinking addiction. He's a pretty serious kind of guy. He's not naive, but he has a kind heart; he's always willing to help those who need it.

Relationship to contact:

Paul and Viso used to be roommates during college. Since then, Paul has started his own business, Shellok's Trauma and Surgical Services, in Bellevue, Seattle. A few years ago, Viso moved to Seattle, and helps Paul out with the business side of his medical practice. They are still good friends and will go pretty far for each other. Paul does know about Viso's shadowrunning habits, but he makes sure to hear as little as possible. He's stitched up "friends" before, but he tries to stay out of it. Viso is his friend, but Paul doesn't want anything to do with shadowrunning.
[/spoiler]

[spoiler=Alicia Althaus - "Pixel" | Decker/Info Broker - Connection 4; Loyalty 3]
162.56 cm (5' 4"); 58.967 (130 pounds); Cerulean Cybereyes; Pink Hair

Alicia is a young and easy-going individual. She loves to party, have fun, and basically be larger than life. She's a wicked good hacker, her handle is "Pixel" (merely an idealized version of her physical form), and she's good at what she does, but it's mostly on the side. She does know just about every bar in Seattle, and can tell you a thing or two about any of the latest news. She can also be surprisingly mature sometimes, despite her normal demeanor. She's Seattle born and bred, and is just as wild as the city she lives in.

Relationship to contact:

Viso met her back when she used to be a Shadowrunner. She was quite a bit younger then, but just as talented at hacking. Although she's retired from running, Viso's kept in touch; occasionally going out for a couple of drinks with her; even for dinner a few times. She's flirtatious, and while Viso can't help but like her, they tried it once, it didn't work out. Doesn't change how she acts, but they both know they aren't really right for each other. His own skill at gathering information provides him with some useful data, and so they keep a good business relationship as well. They're friends, but they don't stay in close enough contact to be great ones.
[/spoiler]

[spoiler=Adam Marxan | Lawyer - Connection 5; Loyalty 2]
180.34 cm (5' 11"); 68.0389 kg (150 pounds); Hazel Eyes; Brown Hair

Adam is a stern English lawyer. He specializes in Extraterritoriality cases, and has probably memorized the last five years' worth of trials. He's pretty condescending, and hates to do any sort of dirty work. He'll gladly accept payment for a bit of "advice on the law", though. He has his own office in Downtown Seattle, and even though he was born in the UCAS, he completely fits the British stereotype. Pinky finger out while drinking tea, and all.

Relationship to contact:

Viso met Adam, briefly, while he was at Harvard. Adam doesn't recognize him, of course, Viso made sure of that. Still, he's built up a decent relationship of bribing him in return for information. It's rather hard to get anything more than a chilly relationship when one member condescends and doesn't hesitate to point out his superiority at every chance.
[/spoiler]

[spoiler=777 - "Seven" | ID Manufacturer - Connection 5; Loyalty 2]
190.5 cm (6' 3"); 95.2544 kg (210 pounds); Hazel Eyes; Black Hair (with green $ signs in it)

777 is a large black man who lives in Redmond, Seattle. While distinctive, he is slightly intimidating and doesn't show his real personality at all. He does have access to a surprising amount of tools, mostly in setting up Fake IDs and SINs. He may not be the most personable guy, but he knows his stuff. Viso wouldn't have come near the guy if he wasn't recommended. Viso has no idea what his real name is; he goes by the alias of 777. He'll answer to "Seven" for short.

Viso has a vague suspicion that 777 was, and might still be, a gambler. He doesn't inquire though; the man does good work and is reliable enough.

Relationship to contact:

Vsio regularly works with him to create new Fake IDs and Fake Licenses; an important tool in the shadowrunner's kit. They don't know each other, and have really nothing in common. Still, Viso's been a regular customer for years, and 777 has always given him good stuff for the money paid.[/spoiler]

Post by: Nevyn on <03-13-15/1327:34>
Name: Marcus O'Ryan
Alias: F-P
Race: Orc
Sex: Male
Nationality: Denver / UCAS
Lifestyle: Medium
Karma Spent: 0
Physical Description: F-P is about 5'7" tall. He weighs about 235lbs. He has dark eyes, dark hair and sun kissed rugged skin. His tusks are filed back a ways. He typically wears either suits or fatigues depending on the situation.

Personality/background F-P is an ork born to an elven mother. She was a British woman in a sound job with a human husband who worked for a British corporation. Mother was assaulted by members of an ork go-gang in London. His parents kept the pregnancy and birth secret and when the inevitable shock of having an ork child born to elven and human parents grew too much F-P was moved to America at a very young age. He was sent to live with extended family in Chicago and, soon after, moved to Denver. Since moving to America as a child, F-P has had rare contact with his parents.

Though he was not an orphan as such, with so little contact with his parents and as an ork brought up in a mostly corporate compound populated by elves and humans, his mentality is that of an orphan.

He grew into his adept powers early and trained in Kenjutsu with a mentor at the CAS military school, in Denver, who was training him for competition which gained him some local notoriaty and also gained him entrance to CAS Military Academy in Atlanta. However, after one semester F-P grew restless and one night, one particularly busy and dark night near the start of his 4 years, F-P saw his first shadow-runners and his heart was set. He left the academy but was recruited in Atlanta as an operative in a covert ops division of CAS in which he served the minimum term before leaving to offer his services to the highest bidder: F-P has worked recently in Chicago and London but has also spent time in Seattle and Denver but tries to avoid Atlanta since his work with CAS Covert Ops ... which is where we are today!:

Due to his up-bringing F-P is strongly prejudiced against others of his ilk but especially rougher, less educated orks. More disturbingly is his, admittedly milder, dislike for elves which stems from the feeling of abandonment from his parents.

He is friendly but quick to anger. He also has a failing for those weaker and younger than him. He has strong protective urges and will defend a fallen comrade if there is any hope. He is, however, pragmatic.

Life Paths: UCAS, Orphan, Military School, Covert Ops, Shadowrunner. No further education taken.

Is a retired NCO in CAS Reserve.

Okay, I think I have it all fixed up and accurate. My manually created char-sheet and the Chummer's word-only version had some very different sorting methods I had to work around, so there was a bit of a discrepancy here and there, but the math should add-up.

Hacksaw (Street Doc: 3, 4)
Hacksaw is one of the better doctors that works on the streets. After years of stress building up trying to save lives and limbs for the, less economically suited, Hacksaw eventually found his way into the chop-chop business. He still does a little doctoring on the side for those with the nuyen. (and for a few select friends, though not for free.)

Byte met Hacksaw shortly after catching a big haul and was looking for a reputable doc. Introduced to him by his fixer, Byte quickly came to like Hacksaw after seeing how good his work was. Since then, Byte regularly does favors for Hacksaw and recommends anyone with spending money, (and often with no other options) to see Hacksaw for any medical reason.

Moneyman Mick (Armorer: 2, 2)
Interested in money, not in people, Moneyman Mick is known for his direct approach with his customers. Nothing special about him, he's just another armorer trying to make a living. He's dealt with Byte on more than one occasion, but never as more than a supplier/buyer.

Slick (Fixer: 4, 3)
Slick has been around for a while and knows the shadows well. There are few things he can't track down. Slick was one of the only reasons Byte was able to fully severe his ties with his corporation, and Byte has returned favors many times as one of the hackers that tracks information for Slick.

Slack Jaw (Bartender: 3, 3)
Byte and Slack Jaw haven't known each other long, however they do have a fairly decent relationship. Byte is a regular at Slack Jaw's bar, and after helping him with a little security issue, the two have had a mutual understanding.

Byte has simple tastes when it comes to his clothing. Aside from always wearing some sort of hat, headband or helmet to cover up his cyber headware, Byte is usually in a t-shirt and short-sleeved jacket with long shorts. He has a spare jacket and pants which is the same style, just with long sleeves and legs. Byte also wears sneakers when not on the job, and traditional boots when running.

Byte's distinctive style comes from his tendency to ramble on about various topics he has a great deal of knowledge in, even if those around him don't care about anything he has to say. It often comes down to someone telling Byte to shut up before he stops.

BACK STORY:
Byte grew up as a promising youth under the careful eye of Ares Macrotechnology. While not a legitimate "corps born," he showed great promise and potential in his early years with his knack for all things electronic. Driven by his parents and supported by his sister, Byte easily found success in his corporate education. Having already shown his corp promise, Byte had his choice of colleges and programs. After consideration, Byte decided attending Computer Science at a nice State College would be the best choice for him.

As expected, Byte had great success in college and once he finished Ares wasted no time recruiting him for work. Giving him a proper Limited Corporation SIN, Ares employed Byte as a Corporate Decker because of his interest in hacking and knowledge of security... And how to exploit it. While Byte wasn't heavily used to hack anything outside of the corp, Ares did find a great use for him as a training partner for their Matrix Security Team as an opponent who would regularly find flaws in their practices.

After a couple of years, however, Byte was at his patience's end. He wanted to have freedom and the ability to make decisions for himself, something Ares wasn't willing to give him. So, after some careful planning, lots of Nuyen and calling on every favor he was owed... Byte managed to find his freedom, leaving Ares behind. Broke, homeless and jobless, Byte finally had what he coveted the most. Freedom. Freedom doesn't do much to fill a stomach or provide shelter though. So, Byte immediately started to look for work. SINless and unknown in the real world, Byte was eventually forced into the barrens and into the shadows. None of this bothered Byte though... Being a weird guy by nature, he simply kept himself occupied with his VR games and by keeping an eye on the flow of information in the Matrix.

It didn't take long before Byte found an opportunity for pay in the Shadows. Being well equipped thanks to his time at Ares, Byte already had the means to flex his muscle in the Matrix and get a hold of information people didn't want him to have. Byte managed to get the dirt on a small group of Shadowrunners who were planning a job to hit a small branch of the Ares Corp. The job was a simple extraction of a  “valuable” slave-wage.

The run went as smooth as one could hope for until they reached the upper floor where the target was located. With most runs, something goes wrong eventually and on this run, it was when someone was readily able to identify Byte. Immediately, distrust began between Byte and the rest of the team. Thinking that Byte was an inside man of the company, the team decided they would attempt to use Byte as a bargaining chip, should the situation need one. If not, simply putting a bullet in his head on their way out would suffice.

Fortune smiled on Byte that day when the street samurai of the group opted to help Byte escape with his life. Some code of honor, or something... While not completely betraying his crew, the samurai did indeed end up being the only reason Byte was able to escape to the server room of the building while the rest of the team followed their planned escape route. It was while hiding in the server room that Byte's reputation was about to take a serious blow before his career as a Shadowrunner ever had a chance to start.

In the struggle, Byte found himself cornered in the Matrix, unable to open a clear path. In his desperation, Byte opted to destroy the servers and attempt to glitch the system into unlocking the doors and denying remote access. He was successful, but he left a large data trail in the process. The Shadowrunners' Decker took the opportunity to record some of the damages and actions Byte made and used that data to stain Byte's reputation as a Decker, labeling him as a “reckless Decker that destroys data for fun, without concern for who it hurts.” It was the team's last little “frack you” to Byte, since they failed to kill him. Well... Better than being geeked, I suppose.

Today, Byte spends the majority of his time in his drek hole; Some abandoned shack in disrepair. Constantly feeding his appetite for all things Matrix, the only person Byte regularly has any contact with is a Fixer named Jake he met while laying low. They might not be the best of friends, but Byte and Jake get along well and the work has been decent so far, despite Byte's reputation at this point.

Byte is now 26 years old. Always in the same clothes, an electrochromatic top and bottom, a thermal damping Synth leather jacket and a nonconductive, insulated armor vest underneath. Byte also wears a hat whenever he leaves his drek hole to hide the cyberdeck implant in his head. Not the only cyberware he has, but the only obvious one he has.

Ok, glad to see this is back on track.

Cool, now that everyone's got their characters up, let's talk contacts. I need to know where they live, how you know them, what they're like, all that good shit. Also, everyone gets a free one. His name is One67. He's a fixer of sorts.

Sam "One67" Tallman
Small time to mid level fixer who lives in riverside. Problems with addiction and impulse control. He is a solid and honorable man, nonetheless and loves his friends more than anything. Doesn't want to screw anyone over, but watches out for number one first and foremost. He's a near legendary graffitti artist and anytime you see a train go by, you have a good chance of seeing his name painted in stunning detail on the side. He's got a connections rating of 4, and you can take him at whatever loyalty you want, but you only get 1 for free. anything else you've gotta buy. You'll also need to justify it in game, as well as why you're in jacksonville. If your loyalty is below 3, you don't know his real name. You may even only know him as "One", "Six-seven", or "Scrub".

Do we have any questions so far?

EDIT: ... Well that's handy. I hope we can use google maps for most of the large-scale areas from here on then? That'd make it a lot easier, thanks.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(I seem to have lost my contacts' real-names, if need be I can just make new ones up.)
Hacksaw (3, 4) is an eccentric, if not mad, doctor who works at a chop-shop located in the heart of Seattle, where he also lives.. When Byte wanted to tweak and modify his Cyber Headware, he was referred to Hacksaw. Both of them being, odd, they got along great from the start. Byte was impressed by the skill the doctor displayed with the results of the modifications he made to Byte's Headware and offered his services to the doctor in good faith. Ever since then, Hacksaw is one of the few people who Byte can call a friend.
Their on-going relationship usually has Byte occasionally going into the Matrix and getting into certain left-over electronic gear. Most of the time, Byte simply unlocks a commlink or cracks the security of a recently deceased's vehicle. On the other hand, Byte readily recommends anyone in need of a doctor to Hacksaw if he sees potential profit in it. (Byte gets a small cut when he refers someone. The bigger the operation/pay, the better the cut.) In turn, the doctor refuses any offers for Byte's Cyberware or Bioware and doesn't keep a record of his visits or orders.
Moneyman Mick (2, 2) is a simple chummer who is trying to make a buck. He doesn't have many connects, but he does run a fair and efficient Armorer shop. He can also get his hand on the more readily available forbidden gear without traces leading back to the buyer. (At least, not on accident.) Byte used Mick to get his pistols and ammunition, bugging Mick again whenever he needs another order. Their relationship is purely buyer/supplier as neither knows the other too well or has any reason to become friends.
Mick operates down the street from his apartment on E 1st St near the Robert F. Kennedy Park.. Byte usually orders deliveries, but isn't shy of appearing without warning when in the area and needing some bullets. Mick is a typical street-salesman, but he knows that he can't con too many people in his condition. Instead, he just looks for his next paycheck, be it a customer or someone who wants one of his customers.
He is 5'9, Black hair Brown eyes. He's a bit thin and scrappy and likes his hair to be slicked back. He looks like a typical greaser from those old 1990 videos. He also carries a comb for when he needs to fix his hair.
Slick (4, 3) is and old-timer who has his prime behind him. His mind, however, is still kicking on all cylinders and his cushy job at the Ares Corp keeps him in a good spot. There isn't much Slick doesn't know, and he has connections all over the world, making him a very good fixer. Slick carries himself as a professional and expects those he does business with in the shadows to act the same. He has a sense of humor and isn't afraid to put his 2-cents in, but he mostly just does what he is requested to do, within his abilities.
Slick was Byte's main contact in the Ares Corp when he was looking to free himself from their grip. Byte first met Slick through his father and kept in contact ever since. Slick was one of the reasons Byte was as successful as he was in the Ares Corp and served as sort of a mentor. Since leaving, however, Byte has become more distant. While this doesn't strain their relationship, Byte wouldn't consider Slick as a man who would risk his standing for Byte's sake when push came to shove. Instead, he just refers to Slick as "an old friend" and talks in a more casual way with him than he does most others.
Slick operates almost entirely through the Matrix and is staying with the main Ares Corps staff.
Slack Jaw (3, 3) is the type of guy you open up your drunken heart to. He's got a sincere looking face, laid back attitude and great sense of humor. His work at Kickbacks Gastropub on King St and College St, has him see all walks of life. Slack Jaw is almost a stereotypical bartender to the customers, and sometimes uses his bar as a cover for his closer friends. Byte is aware of the ability to use the bar to hide out for a night or two, but hasn't quite been giving permission by Slack Jaw.
Byte is a regular at the bar, showing up whenever he needs to resupply his reserve of drinks (both alcoholic and non) for those all-nighters. Slack Jaw, while not giving Byte any special treatment, is often refreshed by his attitude and demeanor. He sees Byte as a kid with a good chip on his shoulder and gladly listens to some of Byte's ramblings. He figures it's much better than hearing the same old complaining and drek from most of the other customers.
Slack Jaw is an older guy about 6'0 in height. Grey hair and always seen in his nice bar tending outfit. His only remarkable feature is a simple scar going across his left temple back towards his ear.
Sam "One67" Tallman (4, 2) is the reason Byte has been in Jacksonville for the past while. (So much so he has set-up a "complete" shelter in an abandoned shack in the Girvin area near Singleton) Byte needed to get away from Seattle, but having lived his whole life there, had no idea where to go. That is when Slick suggested to go to Jacksonville and do work for One67. Being his only lead, Byte went for it.
Byte doesn't know much about 1-67 (1-67 is Byte's nickname for the guy, so just imagine an odd pronunciation.), but he does know that he was referred to him for a reason. The first contact between the two saw Byte flaunt his stuff, but not really take One67 seriously. This made One67 slightly weary of Byte, but being hoopured by one of his trusted contacts that Byte is trustworthy, he is readily available to work with Byte.
Byte doesn't contact 1-67, One67 contacts Byte. As far as Byte is concerned, Slick is his Fixer and he is merely working with 1-67 as an extension with his current job(s). As usual, Byte prefers all contact to made through the Matrix, but isn't shy about showing up in person when repeatedly requested.
CAS Covert Ops has a small base at the Mayport Naval Station. Though never officially posted there, F-P knows some senior NCOs at the base. When he retired he took on a few jobs in the pan-handle and uses the military base as a stepping off point,
Christel Lowater (4, 3) Is an ex-military shadowrunner and sometimes fixer based in Chicago. With connections in London and Berlin. He is rarely out of work but stays clear of NAN territories.He is human and looks sort of Amer-Indian
Mirriam O'Ryan (3, 4) Corporate (Aztechnology) Mirriam is Marcus' aunt. She is a scientist in Aztechnology in Detroit. She is human.
Nevyn (3, 4) Is a human hermetic mage ho works as an academic in the UK at London University College. He is also known in the London circles for having done a few jobs but is actually quite well connected. Nevyn has highly effective magical skills often conjuring and binding spirits to his will.
Number 2 (2, 2) Miss Johnson... She's a Johnson. A pretty one. Born in AMC lands, she took a job as a wage slave working for Aztechnology but when her skills became more apparent, she moved out to work for the AMC government who use her as a spy in Denver. She has remarkable computer skills - seemingly faster than is possible. (she might be one of those technomancer thingies)
Six-seven (4, 1) Fixer. Known mostly by reputation, this guy is known as a guy that can get stuff done around Jacksonville. F-P has used him once, but only through an intermediary, while working covert ops, even though he is small time, tagging trains, stations as well as the odd bridge. F-P has always thought it was a terrible cover story, but six-seven is still around so...
SixSeven is STILL smalltime in the fixer game, despite being nearly legendary in the train graffiti game. Also, he would not have willingly helped you if he knew you were working for a govt or any of the Big 10.
Also, I just noticed you went over the 7 point/contact maximum on a couple of them. Mind re-doin that bit?
1- Basics about your contacts, especially where they are.
2- Where do you currently reside? I can help you match up your desired lifestyle to one of the appropriate areas of town. I used to drive a taxi cab there way back in the day and I know that city like the back of my hand.
3- We need to work out how you met One67, IF you've met him yet. You might just have him as a code in a comm for all I know. But if you've met him, we need to briefly work out how and under what circumstances.
Well, if Byte (having been in Jacksonville long enough to have set-up a shack) did meet One67, it would have been through the Matrix where Byte was basically diggin' around a bit before hand and didn't really get to know One67. It's mainly just something along the lines of Slick told Byte, "Hey, if you need to get away, there's a guy I know of in Jacksonville that might have work for you. I'll introduce you to him." Then Slick goes and tells One67 that Byte is a bit odd, but trustworthy (Thus the 2 loyalty, not 1) and that's about it.
If byte did a job by now, I'd say it'd be a simple job tailored to Byte's specialty, basically to see how competent he was. Maybe something like, cracking some basic device or vehicle security and possibly gathering some realatively easy-to-get info. (Some average chummer's address off his comlink for example.)
I don't think he's hit you up for work just yet. I think you met in a VR hangout for ARO design enthusiasts, as you're both quite skilled visual artists in your own medium. He wanted to see what kinda beautiful shit you could do, and you he. Neither of you were terribly impressed with eachothers work. He lacked the refined eye to appreciate yours, as well as the skill in matrix design to translate his thoughts and ideas into reality. He kept saying over and over again in frustration, "F'RALE SON! If you wanna see what the fuck Onesixseven really be about? What you need to do is lemme holler at a mug to come through the yard! For real, son? All this... numbers and drek, wiz? I aint really feelin all this, wiz? I'm finna holler at a mug next time a mug hit the yard, and that's real, wiz?"
Okay, sorry for the delay. I generally have time to participate in PbPs, but writing things up requires larger time blocks.
-- Contacts --
[spoiler="Gregory" | Fixer - Connection 5; Loyalty 2]
170.18 cm (5' 7"); 67.1317 kg (148 pounds); Blue Eyes; Blond Hair
Gregory is the only name that Viso knows him by; he's pretty sure that's not his real name. They've met face to face a couple of times, but Viso doesn't really know anything about him. Normally that would bother him, but hey, Gregory is good at what he does, so why ask questions? He doesn't seem to have an accent or any distinct ethnicity, and his tone has always been businesslike. Viso's used him to get just about anything and everything, and he always pull through. If there is one thing Gregory is, it's reliable.
Relationship to contact:
Once Viso went back out into the shadows, he knew he needed to get a good fixer. He did some poking around, and Gregory eventually came up in time. Viso managed to get someone to introduce them, and they've maintained a business relationship since. His network is mostly in Seattle, although his influence is fairly large.
[/spoiler]
[spoiler=Paul Shellok | Street Doc - Connection 3; Loyalty 4]
175.26 cm (5' 9"); 72.5748 kg (160 pounds); Green Eyes; Black Hair
Paul is a 26 year old Polish doctor. He came from a poor family, and he has a bit of a drinking addiction. He's a pretty serious kind of guy. He's not naive, but he has a kind heart; he's always willing to help those who need it.
Relationship to contact:
Paul and Viso used to be roommates during college. Since then, Paul has started his own business, Shellok's Trauma and Surgical Services, in Bellevue, Seattle. A few years ago, Viso moved to Seattle, and helps Paul out with the business side of his medical practice. They are still good friends and will go pretty far for each other. Paul does know about Viso's shadowrunning habits, but he makes sure to hear as little as possible. He's stitched up "friends" before, but he tries to stay out of it. Viso is his friend, but Paul doesn't want anything to do with shadowrunning.
[/spoiler]
[spoiler=Alicia Althaus - "Pixel" | Decker/Info Broker - Connection 4; Loyalty 3]
162.56 cm (5' 4"); 58.967 (130 pounds); Cerulean Cybereyes; Pink Hair
Alicia is a young and easy-going individual. She loves to party, have fun, and basically be larger than life. She's a wicked good hacker, her handle is "Pixel" (merely an idealized version of he physical form), and she's good at what she does, but it's mostly on the side. She does know just about every bar in Seattle, and can tell you a thing or two about any of the latest news. She can also be surprisingly mature sometimes, despite her normal demeanor. She's Seattle born and bred, and is just as wild as the city she lives in.
Relationship to contact:
Viso met her back when she used to be a Shadowrunner. She was quite a bit younger then, but just as talented at hacking. Although she's retired from running, Viso's kept in touch; occasionally going out for a couple of drinks with her; even for dinner a few times. She's flirtatious, and while Viso can't help but like her, they tried it once, it didn't work out. Doesn't change how she acts, but they both know they aren't really right for each other. His own skill at gathering information provides him with some useful data, and so they keep a good business relationship as well. They're friends, but they don't stay in close enough contact to be great ones.
[/spoiler]
[spoiler=Adam Marxan | Lawyer - Connection 5; Loyalty 2]
180.34 cm (5' 11"); 68.0389 kg (150 pounds); Hazel Eyes; Brown Hair
Adam is a stern English lawyer. He specializes in Extraterritoriality cases, and has probably memorized the last five years' worth of trials. He's pretty condescending, and hates to do any sort of dirty work. He'll gladly accept payment for a bit of "advice on the law", though. He has his own office in Downtown Seattle, and even though he was born in the UCAS, he completely fits the British stereotype. Pinky finger out while drinking tea, and all.
Relationship to contact:
Viso met Adam, briefly, while he was at Harvard. Adam doesn't recognize him, of course, Viso made sure of that. Still, he's built up a decent relationship of bribing him in return for information. It's rather hard to get anything more than a chilly relationship when one member condescends and doesn't hesitate to point out his superiority at every chance.
[/spoiler]
[spoiler=777 - "Seven" | ID Manufacturer - Connection 5; Loyalty 2]
190.5 cm (6' 3"); 95.2544 kg (210 pounds); Hazel Eyes; Black Hair (with green $ signs in it)
777 is a large black man who lives in Redmond, Seattle. While distinctive, he is slightly intimidating and doesn't show his real personality at all. He does have access to a surprising amount of tools, mostly in setting up Fake IDs and SINs. He may not be the most personable guy, but he knows his stuff. Viso wouldn't have come near the guy if he wasn't recommended. Viso has no idea what his real name is; he goes by the alias of 777. He'll answer to "Seven" for short.
Viso has a vague suspicion that 777 was, and might still be, a gambler. He doesn't inquire though; the man does good work and is reliable enough.
Relationship to contact:
Vsio regularly works with him to create new Fake IDs and Fake Licenses; an important tool in the shadowrunner's kit. They don't know each other, and have really nothing in common. Still, Viso's been a regular customer for years, and 777 has always given him good stuff for the money paid.[/spoiler]
1- Basics about your contacts, especially where they are.
2- Where do you currently reside? I can help you match up your desired lifestyle to one of the appropriate areas of town. I used to drive a taxi cab there way back in the day and I know that city like the back of my hand.
1 - Answered above.
2 - Bellevue, Seattle; fairly close to where my contact Paul lives. I was curious how we were handling that; are we going to have to pay for a lifestyle out in Jacksonville?
3 - I'll get to this below.
Paul's business was having a slow period, and while Viso wasn't burned, his last run had stirred up some law enforcement. It was time to get out, lay low for a bit. Seattle wasn't going anywhere.
He'd heard that Jacksonville was a decent place for a runner to go. No big jobs, but nothing ever really happened there. Any jobs would be easy pickings for someone of his skill. They weren't going to be Milk Runs, of course, everyone knows they don't exist. But still, it was a place to be off the radar, and there was still a chance at making enough money to stay alive. Viso had Seven make him a new Fake SIN; nothing fancy, just something to put a residence under. After getting set up in Jacksonville, Viso contacted his fixer, Gregory. He knew Gregory only worked out of Seattle, but maybe he knew a guy. A message showed in his inbox.
<<@Viso [Gregory] There's a real smalltime guy in town. Calls himself One67. I hear he does art or something. Enjoy your vacation.>>
Attached was a commcode.
Viso assumed that Gregory had sent all the right information to this One67 guy. Still, it probably wouldn't hurt to take him out for drinks.
(No idea how you would want that to progress from here; I don't know enough about One67's character to roleplay him)
Taking One67 at Loyalty 1.
Skill Points (18 total):
Mandarin from 5 to 7 (2 points)
Academic Knowledge: Music from 1 to 3 (2 points)
Academic Knowledge: Art from 1 to 3 (2 points)
Interests: Alcohol from 0 to 4 (4 points)
Street Knowledge: Seattle Gangs from 0 to 2 (2 points)
Street: Area Knowledge: Seattle from 0 to 4 (4 points)
Street: Area Knowledge: Jacksonville from 0 to 1 (1 point) - Viso is very adept at getting information out of the Matrix. I figured he did some poking around before "moving" and while he was there to learn what he could. He wouldn't be the best at navigating stuff, but at least he'd be familiar with landmarks.
Street Knowledge: Jacksonville Gangs from 0 to 1 (1 point) - As above. Just to know what they are, and maybe roughly where they operate.
Still got 13 Karma remaining to spend.
Westside; Dixie Sister Gang territory sounds fine. Viso didn't exactly pay for the nicest area ever.
Also, just as a note, Jacksonville is a hell of a lot larger than I originally thought. Just found that interesting.
2: I have 2 locations.
One is middle lifestyle, secure and infrequently visited. I'm thinking on the other side of the St Johns River. Perhaps near the Regency Mall: 8103 Free Avenue
The other is low lifestyle. Its F-P's main residence during a run in J-Ville. Hollycrest Drive looks like a place to lose yourself. https://www.google.com/maps/@30.30064,-81.733818,18z?hl=en
Oh yeah, that spot between Singleton and Wonderwood would be fine.  It doesn't need to be anywhere to specific for me, but I'd say more towards Singleton than Wonderwood. So, the southern half of the area.
13 Karma
8,000 nuyen - 4 Karma
Street Knowledge: Jacksonville from 1 to 2 - 2 Karma
Street Knowledge: Jacksonville Gangs from 1 to 2 - 2 Karma
Impersonation from 0 to 1 - 2 Karma
Performance from 0 to 1 - 2 Karma
And I'll leave 1 Karma remaining.
4,000 of that nuyen is going to buy 2 months of Low Lifestyle in Jacksonville.
300 of it will go to picking up 3 Meta Link Commlinks.
The remaining 3,700 nuyen will just carry into game.
Edit: Sheet updated.
Christel Lowater: Fixer / Runner. If Lowater is in J-ville then it's because he is on a run.
Nevyn: Hermetic Mage, Academic based in London, England. Always on the phone but unlikely to be in J-Ville unless there is an interesting magical issue. If called on, and he's interested, he is a 9 hour flight away.
If you use the street view and look at the east end of Singleton, you'll notice that immediately below, there is a clearing of trees in sort of an oval shape. The shack will be in the tiny circular clearing at the south end of that opening.
So, basically living off the end of Singleton 3-5 minute walk south.
Gonna roll for starting money; as we basically started the game.
Starting Money:
4836+(13*60) [5, 5, 3]
4836+780
5616
Not a big deal yet, but would ya mind using orokos in the future?
Sure - never heard of it before. Like it and love that it stores all of the campaign rolls.
No public transit round here in cramtown. As for cabs, the drive is about 15-20 minutes, but who knows how long it could take one to get there?
Want me to make a Matrix test to find a cab to call? Or can I just call one and hope for the best?
I decided I don't have any transportation of my own. Taking my own car seemed unfeasible.
Edit: Or, any cabs that work within walking distance?
Your jack city knowledge tells you the most reliable service in town is Gator City cab co, but even they have been known to take up to 45 minutes in a worst case scenario.
Sorry for the delay, Mondays are the days from hell for me.
If Viso is coming across as arrogant; he is. He doesn't know One67 that well, but although the run sounds easy, he's professionally paranoid. One67 makes it sound easy, but Viso would rather get everything on the table now, rather than finding out that he's been lied to/given false information later.
Just want to post here to make sure I know the rules a little before I attempt to do anything on the IC thread.
First of all: Can I Hot-Sim from my Deck without using a cable to connect directly with a device? (Yes, right?)
In order to try and see what the Corp Police are doing, that would require me to use Hack on the Fly to jump on the local grid, right? Or do I try to jump from global grid to global grid for each Corp? (Since I'm a squatter with no subscriptions to grids.) Also, Hack on the Fly uses the Sleaze attribute, but I can't quite figure out how to calculate it, is it capped out at 6 because of my Deck, or is it the same as my Hacking+Sleaze or Hacking+Logic? I also have the Codeslinger (Hack on the Fly) quality, so I get a +2 on top of it all, despite any potential caps right?
Way I'm reading it right now is when it says "Hacking + Logic [Sleaze]" That would mean, for a Decker it's Hacking+Sleaze rating, and for a Technomancer it's Hacking+Logic. Is that correct?
Also, would I need to actually hack anything specifically on the grid(s) in order to track the police, or would I need to attempt Matrix Perception to try and find some info on them? I'm currently reading the chapter in the Core Rulebook for the Matrix, but it seems kind of vague in some areas.
Right now I'm thinking, if I was using my current set-up: 6 Sleaze, 5 Attack, 5 Firewall, 3 Data Proccessing. I would do something like:
Roll Hack on the Fly (5+6+2=13 Dice Pool) to hop over to the local grid, then roll Matrix Perception (7+3=10 Dice Pool) to spot them and potentially get additional info. I could then potentially Hack on the Fly again, or use Brute Force (5+5=10 Dice Pool) to attempt to mark them so they can't hide from me. Also, after I place a Mark, I can attempt a Snoop (4+6=10 Dice Pool) so I can hear all communications to and from the target. I could also attempt Trace Icon (7+3=10 Dice Pool) to find the physical location of any identified police icons I get a mark on.
So basically, I want to try and get tabs on every police force in the area, just tell me if I'm reading the rules on the dice pools right, and which rolls to make. From there, I should be able to figure out the majority of future actions.
Admittedly, Matrix stuff is where I'm weakest as far as rules go, but i don't THINK you can do anything remotely like spying on every cop in the city.
Anyone else wanna weigh in on this?
First of all: Can I Hot-Sim from my Deck without using a cable to connect directly with a device? (Yes, right?)
Not sure what you mean by that. To connect directly to a device (aka, no noise penalties and no master benefits for the device) requires either physically attaching a cable, or hacking a Host that is protecting it. Yes, you can use Hot-Sim without using a cable.
In order to try and see what the Corp Police are doing, that would require me to use Hack on the Fly to jump on the local grid, right? Or do I try to jump from global grid to global grid for each Corp? (Since I'm a squatter with no subscriptions to grids.) Also, Hack on the Fly uses the Sleaze attribute, but I can't quite figure out how to calculate it, is it capped out at 6 because of my Deck, or is it the same as my Hacking+Sleaze or Hacking+Logic? Way I'm reading it right now is when it says "Hacking + Logic [Sleaze]" That would mean, for a Decker it's Hacking+Sleaze rating, and for a Technomancer it's Hacking+Logic. Is that correct?
You roll Hacking (the skill) + Logic (the Attribute) with [Sleaze] (the Matrix Attribute) as the limit. Let's say your Sleaze is 6. That means you are limited to a maximum of 6 hits. Deckers use their decks to set their Matrix Attributes. For Technomancers, they still roll Hacking + Logic, but their Sleaze Attribute is equal to their Intuition. Codeslinger adds to dice to the Hacking + Logic roll.
Also, would I need to actually hack anything specifically on the grid(s) in order to track the police, or would I need to attempt Matrix Perception to try and find some info on them? I'm currently reading the chapter in the Core Rulebook for the Matrix, but it seems kind of vague in some areas.
You would need to use Matrix Perception to find devices that belong to the police. That could take a very long time, with the literal tens of thousands of devices around.
Poindexter might allow you to narrow it down to looking for devices that would belong to policemen, such as guns, police cars, etc. Those would stand out on the Matrix.
Right now I'm thinking, if I was using my current set-up: 6 Sleaze, 5 Attack, 5 Firewall, 3 Data Proccessing. I would do something like:
Roll Hack on the Fly (5+6+2=13 Dice Pool) to hop over to the local grid, then roll Matrix Perception (7+3=10 Dice Pool) to spot them and potentially get additional info. I could then potentially Hack on the Fly again, or use Brute Force (5+5=10 Dice Pool) to attempt to mark them so they can't hide from me. So basically, I want to try and get tabs on every police force in the area, just tell me if I'm reading the rules on the dice pools right, and which rolls to make. From there, I should be able to figure out the majority of future actions.
Hacking to get onto the grid sounds fine. Remember to take the -2 penalty for being on the public grid first. Matrix Perception is limited by Data Processing (3), which is fine if you're okay with it. I would recommend Hack on the Fly to try and mark a police's commlink. Snoop and Trace Icon both work as you want them to.
Just note that you are going to get tabs on two, maybe four at max, policemen in the area. Hacking any more than that will build up Overwatch Score to the point of being converged upon.
On my way to dinner, at the moment, but I'll get an IC up when I get back.
Alright, thanks for the clarification. I think I got a solid understanding of how the rules govern it now.
As for how I'm goin' to IC this, I think simply explaining what I want to do, with links to the Orokos or w/e it's called, for dice rolls... If I roll poorly, I'll stop early, but if I roll well, I'll just go through the motions and the GM can give me the feedback of it afterwards. It might be another hour before the post is on the IC though, as dinner's in the oven, and I need to read as I do this to make sure I don't fuck it up too badly. Lmfao.
Also, I suggest, to make things easier, unless previously stated in the IC, I can just roll my dicepool without the noise modifier, then when looking at results, the GM can just deduct the noise modifier from the hits. Otherwise, let me know how you want to go over noise modifiers. I'll try to keep Signal Scrub on a lot when I can so it's easier to negate it.
EDIT: Okay, since I royally fucked up on the first roll, I'm gonna attempt to exploit the fuck out of the game rules if my 1 hit fails. Need the okay: I'm in VR. I want to use "Switch Interface Mode" (p.243) to enter AR mode. Then I want to Jack-out. This should avoid the Dumpshock from jacking-out (p.240) while in VR and it should reset my Overwatch Score and any marks.  After doing that, I'll re-attempt jacking-in and hoping grids. (I hate glitching so early Lmfao.)
That was some unfortunate luck.
Unless Poindexter disallows it; that's totally fine. GOD wouldn't be on your tail yet, you have the 3 seconds or whatever you need to do that.
In the future, when using Orokos, roll Xd6t5 (where X is the number of dice). That will roll all the dice, then tell you how many dice were 5 or above (basically giving you the hits). That will make it easier to keep track of. If you are using Edge to Push the Limit, and use the Rule of Six, instead use Xd6h5. That will do the same as above, but reroll 6s. You should also notice that under the results bar of your die roll is some text labeled "Copy Pasta". Next to that is "bbcode". Clicking that will open up a text box that gives you the code to paste onto the forum. For example, here's what your roll would look like.
Hack on Fly to Local Grid (http://orokos.com/roll/267587): 11d6 25
Alright then, in that case I'm just gonna go ahead and redo the whole thing. (Keeping the failure, but doing the whole jack-out and reboot thing. Should lose about 5 minutes in-game time, I think.
I also forgot the +2 to all Matrix Actions while Hot-Sim'd. So, gonna add that in from here on out, keeping my initial glitch how it was. (That was my bad anyway.)
The Rolls and their outcomes are:
Hack on the Fly to local grid: 4 Hits. Hack on Fly to local grid (http://orokos.com/roll/267624): 13d6 45
Matrix Perception, Locate Police Vehicles and officer's Commlink: 6 Hits. Matrix Perception (Police Vehicles and Officer comlink) (http://orokos.com/roll/267627): 14d6 51
Hack on the Fly to Mark Comlink: 2 Hits. Hack on Fly to mark Police Commlink (http://orokos.com/roll/267628): 15d6 40
EDIT: Thanks, I'll do that in the future.
I was trying to place a mark on a cop's comlink so I can run the program to listen in on his communications, but I scored low and its a 50-50 chance his comlink blocked the attempt. Which, if it did, alerted his comlink to my attempt and what not...
However, I'm jus' gonna use a roll to try and track his location real quick and the give the crew an update on their location. Since it was a simple Matrix Perception test, it should be the closest guy to us. Even if he did notice me, I can just track him (since I already see him) and get out before they do anything or take much interest in me.
Post by: 8-bit on <03-27-15/2125:14>
So ... I'm about ready to start the run, to be honest.
Viso's main role in legwork is social engineering. Kind of hard to do that one a 2 hour (or less) deadline in a city where none of his contacts are. He could hit up Matrix sites or something to pass the time, I suppose. I'm not really sure how to advance it forward in IC though.
Actually, I'll do a Matrix Search. I want to find out as much as I can about this traphouse as I can. Even just past customer experiences or something will be useful. It'll give me an idea of how edgy their security is. What modifiers, if any, am I looking at for this? My threshold? I'm thinking it's obscure or limited information, so a threshold of 3 with an interval of 30 minutes.
Title: Re: [OOC] Honest to god milk runs, Part 3- (Wreckanize Rale)
Post by: Byte on <03-27-15/2315:53>
In that case I'm just gonna run a track on it and tell the crew where the nearest cop is. I don't think I need the mark for that.
After I get the location, I'll stick around until my OS climbs a bit or I notice a direct reaction from the cop to locate me, so to track I'd roll... Trace (7+5+2=14)
Tracing Cop's Comlink (http://orokos.com/roll/268356): 14d6t5 5
Which pretty sure I'd get it, if the mark is on it. If the mark isn't on it because I only rolled two, I'd just use my Hack on the Fly again, get the mark eventually, then jack-out the moment shit hits the fan in the matrix, and BEFORE GOD gets on my ass.
I'll specify the location before I jack-out, or before we get out of the car, whichever is sooner.
Ok, let's say Byte DOES get the mark on the nearest random cop passing by...
What then? What is the purpose of getting said mark?
I'd like to handle this OOC and then just do the IC all in one or posts.
Title: Re: [OOC] Honest to god milk runs, Part 3- (Wreckanize Rale)
Post by: Byte on <03-28-15/1209:22>
It's minor, basically I'm just trying to see what the cops are doing right now and if there are any emergencies taking their attention. If I did get the mark, I'd simply be listening in on their coms as long as possible, then I'd tell FP when I jacked-out what they were doing.
Example: A firefight took place on the other side of town and the cops are requesting back-up, I'd let FP know "Hey, the cops are focused on the other side of town right now."
Or say there is nothing really being said over the coms or no emergencies of any kind, I'd tell the crew, "Cops have nothin' to do. If they get called, I'm sure the response time would be fairly quick."
With the info I may gather, I could let the crew know they should try to start off quietly, or if loud and proud would be just fine.
The roll is: Snoop on Cop's Comlink (http://orokos.com/roll/268460): 11d6t5 3
So with that and the 5 hits for Trace, I should know where the cop is and probably got a watch on their com chat. A simple, "You succeed" or "You fail" is all I really need here. I'll take care of the rest in the IC, since the info is minor, it won't actually change anything anyway, and I could always just have Byte make something up.
I'll just roll for the Matrix Search test now.
I'm looking for any information about this place, past "customer" experiences, previous police hits, etc. I'm going to take it as Limited Interest/Not Publicized (Threshold 3) and Cross-Grid (-2 dice). I'm currently on the Public Grid.
Matrix Search (Computer 7 + Logic 4 - Public Grid 2 - Cross-Grid 2) (http://orokos.com/roll/268974): 7d6t5 2 [2, 1, 5, 4, 2, 1, 5]
Well, that didn't work. There goes Viso's 30 minutes.
Also, I was under the impression that he was going to give us the car, or at least return with it as our getaway vehicle. Is this not the case?
Maybe Viso didn't make it clear enough to One67; it's entirely possible. It was kind of slipped in there. I'll add that into my next IC post, something along the lines of "You gonna pick us up back here or are you leaving the car? We need a getaway vehicle of some sort, if we're going to put some distance between us and the traphouse."
Edit: Also, is the trainyard within walking distance of the traphouse? Viso might just suggest to pick them up afterwards. That way, he doesn't have to worry about his car being spotted at the scene, but they still have a getaway vehicle.
Righ'. Eiffer of you got some kinda vid or trid recording device? I wanna drive fru at speed and we can slow it down on cam afferwards.
Is this the plan? To haul ass past this place to take pictures of it?
First off: Not 'Haul Arse' exactly, but not an obvious recce complete with rubber necking.
Depending on the location, I want a Google Street Map type view of the location, accessing any rear view we may. Have you given us the location OOC? I couldn't find it.
Electronic eyes make up for a lot that human (meta or otherwise) miss. Of note: Marcus is looking for the back view, any back door, any rear facing windows, the front door, the front street, a place to stash the bikes and a getaway route.
Guys, any other comments?
I'm not so certain about the whole "speeding past" part. Seems a little noisy and conspicuous to me.
I don't deny that getting some reconnaissance is a good idea, but Viso would rather have something a little more subtle.
Yes - Marcus is suggesting that he looks like an Ork GoGanger with his bike etc. He can go past at normal speed with a recording device; this looks better than the alternative which is going past slowly, rubber necking the joint.
The burner comm One tossed to one of you guys has an ARO with the following pic and address on it.
It's damn near in the same neighborhood as the trainyard. about 11 blocks west and 10 blocks north. 15-20 minute walk. a leisurely walk.
Dang trees block any aerial view, but I think I found a solid way to sneak 'em. I'll point out what I reference in here to keep the IC post cleaner.
The First View (https://www.google.com/maps/@30.343106,-81.692398,3a,75y,186.33h,82.12t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1szpc59onVCUBBTgDXCRwUUw!2e0?hl=en) is immediately to the left, facing the front of the house. Notice how there is a bit of empty space there. Also note the tiny waist-high fence. Could play distraction and sneak around.
Or (P.S. you can use the mouse wheel to scroll out on these next 2 pictures... I just have them zoomed in so you can see where specifically I am talking about.)
Looking at the second view (https://www.google.com/maps/@30.342789,-81.692986,3a,15y,73.08h,87.9t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1sEFIIKRb6m4lf4g7zjrccvQ!2e0?hl=en), you'll notice how the back door is facing away from the empty space shown in the first pic, instead of straight back into the backyard. This could mean there's a chance any guard there would be in front of that door and facing away as well.
Which takes me to the third view (https://www.google.com/maps/@30.342815,-81.692123,3a,16.4y,270.25h,86.09t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1sKiBix6lPFaz-0H7jOYFuog!2e0?hl=en), if we hop that fence (assuming we don't alert the home owner there) we could potentially sneak over to the backdoor and either quiet-kill the guard, or if no one is there, attempt to hack/pick the lock open for quiet entry.
~~~~~~~

Even if we didn't use any of the methods provided by Byte, Those are the 3 pictures I got of the place that aren't the original, which should provide the best view of the back you're going to find.

EDIT: I dunno how good my last IC post looks. It's a bit clunky, like how we discuss casing, then I snag the com... But, I just assume the pics gave us an idea of what to look for, and Byte gave his thoughts on what to look for in planning. From there, we can still recon and it should fit in fairly well, I think.

I like the post Byte. It's pretty much the character.

I'm (well Marcus is) wondering if we know the area. Any of us have any local knowledge for this area? Marcus has none.

Also - we have 2 bikes and 3 of us. Marcus' bike is a chopper so Viso could ride 'bitch' if he wants.

So, hopping on the public grid, and gonna search out any icons connected directly to the target. Depending on how this goes, and what's there, I'm gonna try to install a backdoor on any locks in the building and any guns that are turned on wirelessly. I assume the doors would be connected (slaved) to the building's central node, so 1 hack of that with a backdoor in place should let me unlock the doors at will later. (Trying to remember SR5 specifics, since I'm in a RP group for SR4 as well. )

As for the guns, I'd have to locate each commlink in use, hack each, then install the backdoors, if I want to disable any "smart" weapons. This I can skip on, since it's another handful of rolls.

Anyway, the roll is (Computer+INT vs Logic+Sleaze p.241): Matrix Perception (http://orokos.com/roll/273300): 10d6t5 2  Assuming it's not running silent, the 1st mark allows me to find it, and for the 2nd mark I want to know: What grid it's running on. (I'll use the grid it's on later to attempt to hack it and place my backdoor.)

In the absence of other comments and plans, should we go hit this target? Taking quite a while....
Title: Re: [OOC] Honest to god milk runs, Part 3- (Wreckanize Rale)
Post by: Byte on <04-12-15/1338:23>
Yeah, I mean... Byte is already starting to process of hacking the target's central node, instead of waiting until we get there and doing it all on the fly. I'm hoping that, by the time the crew gets to the target for the hit, Byte will already have the entire system cracked and waiting for his command to open up.

If nothin' really happens today, I'll just go ahead and do my rolls as if I were on the same grid as the target, since that is the point of the Matrix Perception test. (A shitty little drug house shouldn't offer much resistance to Byte, assuming it's in a low to medium area. If it's street-level, there's almost no point in making the rolls, lmfao.)

Edit: Alright, so in this case... Still gonna be doing everything through AR, since I need to be able to keep up with Viso and FP. But, I'm going to assume I sleaze my way onto the grid the Central Node of the house is on, then proceed to probe it and slow hack it. I'll use more brute force if the time starts running out before the hit starts... Though I realize, there is no simple "sleaze" action in SR5... Only the "Hack on the Fly" is there to place a mark without attacking and alerting the target... Ah well.

CURRENT SET-UP (as last seen in the IC thread):6 Sleaze, 5+1 Data Processing, 5 Attack, 3 Firewall: Signal Scrub(-2 Noise), Toolbox(+1 Data Processing), Virtual Machine, Exploit(+2 Sleaze when Hacking on Fly) and Baby Monitor. (Programs in Core Rulebook [2nd Printing] p.245) Also, all Matrix Actions start on Page 238.

Obviously, I will be running silent. First is hopping grids. Reading the book, I don't alert GOD if I fail this role, so just going with it: Hoping Grids (http://orokos.com/roll/274224): 11d6t5 6 (Yup. That's a hit.) Then I ofc hop grids to the one that houses the target.

Second, since I should be aware of which icon belongs to my target, I want to try and place 2 marks on it (Hack on Fly -4 dice): 2 Mark Hack on Fly Target's House (http://orokos.com/roll/274219): 7d6t5 3 (Should be good if they don't get a perfect roll.)

Third, I want to place a 3rd mark on it: 3rd Mark on Target's House (http://orokos.com/roll/274223): 11d6t5 6 (That's a hit!) So, I'll enter the host at this point and check my Overwatch score via the Baby Monitor. (Should still be golden right now though.)

Fourth would be the backdoor, but I don't really see anywhere where it mentions backdoors, let alone how I might set one up... So, in order to dance around the rules, since I already have 100% access to the Central Node, I'm just going to add the access Byte is using to hack to the Node's user-list as an admin. To do this I will first use a Matrix Perception to find the relevant Data: Matrix Perception in Target (http://orokos.com/roll/274229): 12d6t5 2 The two hits should let me find 2 files: The file I need to edit in order to give Byte his log-on, and the Log File which keeps track of everything that happens on the node and all connections.

Finding those, Byte swaps out his Exploit program for his Edit program (Making Data Processing 5+1+2=8.): Editing User List (http://orokos.com/roll/274230): 13d6t5 5 That should be enough to completely add Byte as an admin user, so he doesn't have to hack the node again.

After doing that, Byte is going to erase his tracks from the Log file, so they can't simply trace him: Editing Log File (http://orokos.com/roll/274232): 13d6t5 5 That should be enough to erase most, if not all of Byte's tracks. (Aside from his disconnecting, of course.)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
IN SUMMARY:
Byte hopped grids, placed 3 marks on the target, entered the target, searched for the User-List file and Log file, added himself as an admin, and removed from the log: His access as an Admin (3 marks), his adding a new user, his time spent logged on and alter his connecting information.
This should allow Byte to log onto the target freely (as long as the owner of the node isn't aware of the added user and deletes it.) and the log should make Byte's connecting look like any other random connection that was bounced through that node.
The Plan:
We'll head over to the target. Assuming Viso can ride a bike, we'll drop Byte off at 3rd and Engle. He heads up to the back of the property.
Viso and Marcus will ride up to the front door posing as buyers. Marcus' gun in sight but holstered. We'll go in and then take out who we need to. Code word to call to action is "the Naval yards at Mayport."
To make it seem like there's more of us, Marcus or Viso will comms Byte and he'll throw a flashbang at the outside of the house, near a window if possible. Marcus hopes that this should orient the bad guys at the window.
Then Byte runs to the bikes and starts the engines. When Viso and Marcus exfil then exit strategy is: get to Kings Road by zig zagging east til they reach it. Go all the way down Kings Road all the way to the River, swap to the 228, cross the bridge, get off on Atlantic Boulevard heading West, back over the river on the Fuller Bridge, get off on 15 going south and then meet up at the Florida state college. Marcus' safe house is 5 minutes from there. We'll hole up there.
Sounds good. As long as the GM decides Byte is able to complete his hacking session on their node *and* that the doors are indeed slaved to that node (99.99% sure it is.) there should be no problems for you guys inside. I just wish they had an actual backdoor section in the rule book, since that is 90% of what slow-hacking before a run is about.
Looking at how many extended tests are involved with the 'links and guns, I opted to skip those... Would need more than 2 hours to do, and even then, street-medium level guys will still have triggers that can manually fire despite being hacked. Worst I could do is find some with smartlink and have them go off while holstered.
Otherwise, I don't see anything that would give Byte any trouble. So, I'll still wait for the GM or 8-Bit to say something before I continue in IC.
Oh and if either of you two have a camera, or cyber-eyes, invite a mark from Byte so he can use his image-link to see what's up. It's no TacSoft, but it should help Byte give a much better "heads-up" if he sees someone coming from outside and he knows where you are.
Quick question, Viso is riding on the back of the bike, I assume?  Or did we borrow One's car?
Pretty sure the plan right now, is to have Byte sneak up on the house from the back side, where I can see the backdoor. Thus, why Byte has a different drop off spot.
Then, FP and Viso go up to the front door and attempt to get in via "business." Once drek hits the fan and shooting starts, Byte is supposed to throw a flashbang he got outside one of the windows. (I personally fear my low DP will result in a crit glitch here.) Then from there it's basically a smash 'n' grab.
Also, by the time Viso and FP get to the front door, Byte should already have his backdoor in place and be readily able to log in as an admin and open any doors, disable any security, etc etc, tied to the house's central node. I should also be able to boot and refuse access to anyone else attempting to log on, since I will have a legit Admin account. When done, I plan to set-up a data bomb on the logs, and delete my admin account (which will sever my connection.) That way, when they access the logs later, it will set off the bomb that will delete any records of Byte having been on the node.
*EDIT*: Y'know... I've noticed this thread has been read like 1,268+ times... Which makes me curious how many of those are just me opening up my browser... Since I have the tabs open 24/7 on it so I don't forget or have to find the threads again... Lmfao.
Post by: Nevyn on <04-22-15/2142:05>
I concur. Viso will face into the building and I will appear as his muscle... (not much of a stretch).
Expecting to be able to get in easily but if not then Marcus will ping Byte. The flashbang from Byte is a diversion only... He is meant to understand to throw it at a window but have it land outside; the idea being that any chummers on the inside will have to orient on 2 axis which should give Marcus time to dance on their bones. Viso and Marcus will secure the drugs in Marcus' bag and then they get the hell out of dodge.
Exfil as described earlier
When Viso and Marcus exfil, exit strategy is: get to Kings Road by zig zagging east til they reach it. Go all the way down Kings Road all the way to the River, swap to the 228, cross the bridge, get off on Atlantic Boulevard heading West, back over the river on the Fuller Bridge, get off on 15 going south and then meet up at the Florida state college. With a few points in Streets and Gangs for Jacksonville and a decent Etiquette rating, I imagine Viso is able to 'dress down' for the occasion.  He isn't going up to their door wearing his Synergist, but he's not going in gang wear.  Probably something that says he's some middle class schmuck looking for a good time, he can afford what he's looking for, but he's not entirely in his element.
Something like nice blue jeans and a grey t-shirt, a blue ball cap, boots that look 'right' for the streets, but are too new and too nice a brand, and his armored vest.
But is just wearing his Armor vest underneath his hoodie jacket. He has a hat on and looks like an average gamer from an arcade. He might look a little odd, considering how hot it's going to get, but looking at the style of the jacket and pants, it appears to be more of a fashion statement than a practical attire. He is rep'in' his favorite anime and games.
Considering his lifestyle, his clothes aren't the neatest or nicest, so he might blend in as a btl user or the sort.
Marcus is dressed as FP for the meet-up. If the meet-up had been with a proper Mr Johnson then he'd have dressed smart but as it is he's dressed in green fatigues that look like they remember what a good ironing was like, green t-shirt with a biker jacket over the top. The biker jacket is pretty standard and has the stats of an armoured vest. It is black with a couple of white lines as detailing. There are no identifiable gang signs on it but could be mistaken for a Krubb Force jacket, as they have no gang signs, if it wasn't for the greens underneath. Also - Marcus doesn't speak Or'zet.
Etiquette (http://orokos.com/roll/285182): 6d6t5 1 ... It's fitting actually, that Byte would handle this situation poorly. Lmfao. Also, is that the backyard of the target house, or next to it?
As for palming... 1 DP on that one... Won't risk a crit glitch. The best I have is that my pistol is in a concealable holster. As for where it is, it's simply on his back under his jacket.
I do want to roll a perception to see if I can see any weapons on the guy and any additional info on the house: Perception Check (http://orokos.com/roll/285187): 7d6t5 4
Hmm... I'll think of a response later, depending on what my perception tells me.
Etiquette check (http://orokos.com/roll/285332) gets 3 successes @ TN#5
Marcus will try to appear mildly intimidating. Not enough to scare but enough to make them aware of him: Intimidation Check (http://orokos.com/roll/285335), gains 2 successes at @TN#5. He is also scoping out the guards: Perception check (http://orokos.com/roll/285345) 2 Successes at TN#5. (seriously 11d6t5 gets me 2 successes... bad orokos, naughty orokos, go sit in the corner)
He also wants to check out the building using his knowledge of safe houses. He has 3 skills that might apply, if you'll provide guidance:
Marcus is carrying his Ares III and 2 swords. The two swords are together in a single sheath on the inside of the back of his coat. The Ares is in the front of his trousers (pants) not concealed by anything but the jacket. In one hand is a scrunched up, small soft-sided bag that looks like it contains nothing. It has 1 flash bang in it. He has a flash pack in a pocket in the small of his back.
I'm not putting a TN for these next ones as I think they might be subjective:
Palming Ares (http://orokos.com/roll/285338) 2,2,1,6,3
Palming Swords (http://orokos.com/roll/285342) 1,2,6,1,5
Palming Flash Pack (http://orokos.com/roll/285344) 2,4,1,1,5
Pamling Telescoping fighting stick (http://orokos.com/roll/285356) 5,2,1,6,6
HA! They might be subjective but they were also unimpressive.
What, exactly are you checking the building for?
I'm not putting a TN for these next ones as I think they might be subjective:
@Jayde moon, I'm gonna need a negotiate roll from you. You're getting -1 for NPC being suspicious and -1 from your desired result (Letting the clearly armed ork in the door) being annoying to the NPC.
@Nevyn
Can I run through one of these walls?
no roll needed. Not likely.
How likely is a fire going to destroy the place?
Again, no roll needed. If it weren't as wet as it is, VERY likely, you'd estimate. It being this damn wet though, downgrade to "quite likely"
How likely will an altercation on the steps be heard in doors?
How likely will one in doors be heard outdoors?
The front door is wide open as are the front two windows. You estimate VERY likely on both counts unless some extreme ninja shit goes down.
@byte, it's been a minute since you made those hacking rolls to gain access to the door. Do you mind linking me to the post where you did that?
Yeah, I mean... Byte is already starting to process of hacking the target's central node, instead of waiting until we get there and doing it all on the fly. I'm hoping that, by the time the crew gets to the target for the hit, Byte will already have the entire system cracked and waiting for his command to open up.
If nothin' really happens today, I'll just go ahead and do my rolls as if I were on the same grid as the target, since that is the point of the Matrix Perception test. (A shitty little drug house shouldn't offer much resistance to Byte, assuming it's in a low to medium area. If it's street-level, there's almost no point in making the rolls, lmfao.)
Edit: Alright, so in this case... Still gonna be doing everything through AR, since I need to be able to keep up with Viso and FP. But, I'm going to assume I sleaze my way onto the grid the Central Node of the house is on, then proceed to probe it and slow hack it. I'll use more brute force if the time starts running out before the hit starts... Though I realize, there is no simple "sleaze" action in SR5... Only the "Hack on the Fly" is there to place a mark without attacking and alerting the target... Ah well.
CURRENT SET-UP (as last seen in the IC thread):6 Sleaze, 5+1 Data Processing, 5 Attack, 3 Firewall: Signal Scrub(-2 Noise), Toolbox(+1 Data Processing), Virtual Machine, Exploit(+2 Sleaze when Hacking on Fly) and Baby Monitor. (Programs in Core Rulebook [2nd Printing] p.245) Also, all Matrix Actions start on Page 238.
Obviously, I will be running silent. First is hopping grids. Reading the book, I don't alert GOD if I fail this role, so just going with it: Hoping Grids (http://orokos.com/roll/274224): 11d6t5 6 (Yup. That's a hit.) Then I ofc hop grids to the one that houses the target.
Second, since I should be aware of which icon belongs to my target, I want to try and place 2 marks on it (Hack on Fly -4 dice): 2 Mark Hack on Fly Target's House (http://orokos.com/roll/274219): 7d6t5 3 (Should be good if they don't get a perfect roll.)
Third, I want to place a 3rd mark on it: 3rd Mark on Target's House (http://orokos.com/roll/274223): 11d6t5 6 (That's a hit!) So, I'll enter the host at this point and check my Overwatch score via the Baby Monitor. (Should still be golden right now though.)
Fourth would be the backdoor, but I don't really see anywhere where it mentions backdoors, let alone how I might set one up... So, in order to dance around the rules, since I already have 100% access to the Central Node, I'm just going to add the access Byte is using to hack to the Node's user-list as an admin. To do this I will first use a Matrix Perception to find the relevant Data: Matrix Perception in Target (http://orokos.com/roll/274229): 12d6t5 2 The two hits should let me find 2 files: The file I need to edit in order to give Byte his log-on, and the Log File which keeps track of everything that happens on the node and all connections.
Finding those, Byte swaps out his Exploit program for his Edit program (Making Data Processing 5+1+2=8.): Editing User List (http://orokos.com/roll/274230): 13d6t5 5 That should be enough to completely add Byte as an admin user, so he doesn't have to hack the node again.
After doing that, Byte is going to erase his tracks from the Log file, so they can't simply trace him: Editing Log File (http://orokos.com/roll/274232): 13d6t5 5 That should be enough to erase most, if not all of Byte's tracks. (Aside from his disconnecting, of course.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

IN SUMMARY:

Byte hopped grids, placed 3 marks on the target, entered the target, searched for the User-List file and Log file, added himself as an admin, and removed from the log: His access as an Admin (3 marks), his adding a new user, his time spent logged on and alter his connecting information.

This should allow Byte to log onto the target freely (as long as the owner of the node isn't aware of the added user and deletes it.) and the log should make Byte's connecting look like any other random connection that was bounced through that node.
[/spoiler]

It was on page 7, first post.

Ok, well since he's going straight for the gun, let's get an initiative roll for byte.

Here's what the ganger gets.
Initiative (http://orokos.com/roll/287900): 2d6+8 16

FP's bullet time...
There are indeed people in the main room through the front door, two humans and an elf.
As for the astral perception, nothing jumps out at you as threatening, but if you'd like to assense to look for magical threats, feel free.

Well he got higher than 6, so initiative was pointless: Initiative (http://orokos.com/roll/287928): 1d6+8 14

However, it still shouldn't really matter what we got. Byte should have his gun out and be on overwatch on the corner, since all that happens before combat would take place.

Also, why is initiative so vastly different from SR4? It's almost an entirely different game. Lmfao.

Meanwhile, just to get a little jump on things:

Initiative: (http://orokos.com/roll/287934) 15

Crazy but... without actual magical training, he doesn't know how to assense.

FP is looking at the status of the people in the room (in the time it takes to approach the guard) such as: are they drug users, are they high, or are they armed and likely to be dangerousPerception (http://orokos.com/roll/287993) 3 successes. It is the outcome of this that will determine if he acts like a clumsy, stupid Ork when the clip hits the ground or if he attacks.

Without getting a clearer look at them, you can assume yes, probably, maybe, not likely, in that order.

Turn 1, IP- 1 turn order

Blowjob Dixie 16
FP 15
Viso 15
Byte 14
Badtooth Dixie 13
Bandana Dixie 11

Blowjob Dixie's actions are,
Move: Walk around corner (At which point he notices the gun aimed at him)
Simple: Take cover (Behind corner)
Simple: Fire single shot at Byte
Free: Communicate (Shouting "Jacker out back!")

Pop one off at Byte (Agi 4 + Pistols 3) (http://orokos.com/roll/290209): 7d6t5 0

aaaaaaand that's a miss. A shot rings out, ricochets off the wall near Byte's head, and then off into the night. everyone hears it.

Action is to FP and Viso.

FP is already crouched over and the clip is headed to the floor, taking advantage of the sudden interruption, he uses his right hand (now without gun) to deliver a punch to the throat of the guard in front of him using Killing Hands while, at the same time, with his left hand on the guards wrist pulling him down and forwards attempting to put him on the ground.

Complex Action: Melee attack on Guard (http://orokos.com/roll/290235) (Bandana Dixie I think)
Movement: none other than those used while engaged in combat
Free: Communiate "Ids a drap boss, they're trying to rob you'm!"

Block Roll (Rea 4 + Int 3 + Unarmed 3) (http://orokos.com/roll/290236): 10d6t5 3

He blocks the strike and it costs him 5 off his initiative.

New order is:

Blowjob Dixie 16
FP 15
Viso 15
Byte 14
Badtooth Dixie 13
Bandana Dixie 6

Action is to Viso.

Thinks: Well, that escalated quickly.

Simple Action: Draw Defiance-Ex Taser
Simple Action: Fire Defiance-Ex Taser (1 (http://orokos.com/roll/290612) + 2 (Edge) (http://orokos.com/roll/290613) = 3 hits) at the Ganger FP is not trying to hit.

Damage = 9S(e) AP -5

Man, Orokos rolls consistently low for me. 3 hits out of 27 dice, wow.

That would be Badtooth, the one you've been negotiating with. He's gonna dodge.

Dodge Taser fire (Rea 4 + Int 5 + Gymnastics 2) (http://orokos.com/roll/290629): 11d6t5 2

Ha! Little good it did him! so that's 10s he's gotta soak.

Soak 10S (Body 3 + Armor 12 + Noncoductivity 2 - AP 5) (http://orokos.com/roll/290631): 12d6t5 4

So, that's 6S, which beats his physical threshold, so he drops twitching to the ground. He loses 5 off his init for the attempted dodge and another 5 for the electrical dmg.

This puts the current order at:

Blowjob Dixie 16
FP 15
Viso 15
Byte 14
Bandana Dixie 6
Badtooth Dixie 3

Action is to Byte.

*Sigh* Ah well, I tried for a freebie. Let's see if I can kill him now. (Also, is my Smartgun considered Wireless? I assumed it was, as it would be for a Hacker anyway. That would make the DP for Pistols 8+1... Though reading the Core Rulebook, everything is so much better wireless, I assume that's an additional thing I need to purchase with the gear itself. If that's the case, just take 1 hit off of each of my attacks,  to compensate for the inaccurate roll. I'm far too used to use SR4 by now. Lmfao)

Byte's gonna sigh, loudly, and say fuck cover. He's going to get into pointblank range and cap the Dixie.

Move: Byte moves next to the Dixie, negating his cover.
Simple: Fire Ares Light Fire 75 Attacking BJDixie 1 (http://orokos.com/roll/290686): 9d6t5 4 (Take 1 hit off)
Simple 2: Fire Ares Light Fire 75 Attacking BJDixie 2 (http://orokos.com/roll/290687): 9d6t5 4 (Take 1 hit off)

The Ares Light Fire does 6P DV with no AP.

Free: Will post after results.

Were we able to fire twice in SR4?  I can't even remember anymore.  In SR5, you can only make one attack action per pass.

BUT, you can fire a burst (either in Burst Fire mode or in Semi-Auto by pulling the trigger three times) and it can be a complex action called 'Aimed Burst' (R&G 119)... so same fluff... it just adds 1 to the DV of your weapon.

Also, you have cybereyes with smart link.  Since you used ESSENCE for your smart link you get an ADDITIONAL +1 to your Dice Pool when using it in Wireless mode.

1- All firearms, unless specifically purchased without, are assumed to be wireless.
2- The mere state of a weapon being wireless does not increase your dicepool. A smartgun system in the weapon does. If the gun you're using doesn't have that as standard issue and you didnt pay extra to have it installed, then it doesn't have a smartgun system.
2a- Even if the weapon itself HAS a smartgun system, you must have the vision upgrade, Smartlink, in order to gain any benefit from the smartgun system in your weapon. If the upgrade is in a piece of equipment, you get +1, if it's from something installed in your body that cost essense to do, then it gives you +2.
3- You DO have all the correct things you need, so you actually get an extra die, for a total of 10.

Move: Byte moves next to the Dixie, negating his cover.
Simple: Fire Ares Light Fire 75 Attacking BJDixie 1 (http://orokos.com/roll/290686): 9d6t5 4
Simple 2: Fire Ares Light Fire 75 Attacking BJDixie 2 (http://orokos.com/roll/290687): 9d6t5 4

The Ares Light Fire does 6P DV with no AP.

You can only use one of your simple actions in a pass for an attack. So we'll keep the first one. Also...

Extra die from implanted smartlink (http://orokos.com/roll/290703): 1d6t5 0

Ok, so four hits total.

Dodge gunfire (Rea 5 + Int 3 + Gym 3) (http://orokos.com/roll/290705): 11d6t5 3

so he's gotta soak 7P, which is less than his armor rating, so it will go down to 7S.

Soak 7S (Bod 3 + Armor 12) (http://orokos.com/roll/290706): 15d6t5 8

Armor soaks it all up, but he did lose 5 off his initiative, scrambling back away from you, toward a small, three step plascrete stairway.

Bandana Dixie has just blocked FP's Unarmed attack, and his buddy has gone down, twitching on the ground. He moves back through the door, uses a simple action to draw his pistol, a second simple action to close the door, and his free action to communicate a warning to someone upstairs.

Badtooth Dixie uses a simple action to stand up, a move action to move back onto the porch, another simple to take cover behind one of the crappy pillars along the front of the house, and a free to communicate his anger at being shut outside.

The Order is now...

FP 15
Viso 15
Byte 14
Blowjob Dixie 11
Bandana Dixie 6
Badtooth Dixie 3

So we start T-1, IP-2. and it goes...

FP 5
Viso 5
Byte 4
Blowjob Dixie 1

Action is to FP.

Communication: "Stay down fucker"

Alright, so I think I got it....

Frankly speaking... SR5's rulebook sucks... I though I figured it out reading 50 pages, then 200+ pages later I find where the rule I was looking for originally was written.

Anyway, I can adapt and be more clean about my actions from here on.

So, as long as I'm not "running" yet, Movement is a separate action, right? I know running is a "Free" action and sprinting is a "complex" I get that.

Thus, we got "Walk - Free - Simple x2" actions to use.  Firing my weapon ends my action phase.

Okay, I got it. (From now on, Google! Info +page where it's written. Lmfao.)

Alright, well the Defiance doesn't work like modern tasers, I guess, where you fire once and then have to repack everything.  With 4 shots, I guess the wires can 'drop off, and it's ready for another shot the next round.

So...

If FP takes out the guy with his melee attack:

SImple Action: Holster Defiance Taser
Simple Action: Draw Predator
Free Action: Speak:  FP, get the door please?

If FP DOESN'T take out the guy with his melee attack:
Simple Action: Shoot Idiot Again (http://orokos.com/roll/291082) 4 hits
Simple Action: Holster Defiance Taser
Free Action: Speak:  FP, get the door please?
Title: Re: [OOC] Honest to god milk runs, Part 3- (Wreckanize Rale)

In that case I will:

Move: Duck to the corner for cover
Simple: Take Aim (+1 DP to attack)
Simple: Shoot BJDixie Again (http://orokos.com/roll/291200): 9d6t5 2
Free: Drop the gun, you live.

Complex action: Melee attack on Badtooth (http://orokos.com/roll/290732)

Defense Roll (Rea 4 + Int 3) (http://orokos.com/roll/291308): 7d6t5 1

It'd be a lot easier on me if you'd use the full bbcode so i don't have to click around too much to run numbers.

So he's gotta soak 6S.

Soak 6S (Body 3 + Armor 12) (http://orokos.com/roll/291310): 15d6t5 7

Armor takes it all.

If FP DOESN'T take out the guy with his melee attack:
Simple Action: Shoot Idiot Again (http://orokos.com/roll/291082) 4 hits
Simple Action: Holster Defiance Taser
Free Action: Speak:  FP, get the door please?

Defense Roll (Rea 4 + Int 3 - 1 Previous Defense) (http://orokos.com/roll/291312): 6d6t5 2

So he's gotta soak 11S

Soak 11S (Body 3 + Armor 12 + Nonconduct 2 - AP 5) (http://orokos.com/roll/291314): 12d6t5 3

So that's 8S, + the 6S from earlier, he's down, twitching and drooling.

Move: Duck to the corner for cover
Simple: Take Aim (+1 DP to attack)
Simple: Shoot BJDixie Again (http://orokos.com/roll/291200): 9d6t5 2
Free: Drop the gun, you live.

2 things, 1- taking cover requires a simple action.
2- don't forget your 2 extra dice from the smartgun. 2 Whoops dice (http://orokos.com/roll/291305): 2d6t5 1

Bringing you to 3 hits.

Defense Roll (Rea 5 + Int 3) (http://orokos.com/roll/291315): 8d6t5 4

He manages to leap behind the tiny set of stairs and your bullet pings off it.

He's gonna
Simple: Take cover
Simple: Fire Semi-auto burst at Byte

3 round burst at Byte (Agi 3 + Pistols 4) (http://orokos.com/roll/291318): 7d6t5 2

Keep in mind, for Byte's defense roll, he'll be getting 2 fewer dice, due to the 3 round burst.

I'll need a defense roll (and hopefully not a soak roll) from Byte, as well as round 2 initiative from everyone.

The base damage is 8P and has a -1 AP.

EDIT: Also, let's get IC posts up for this last flurry of actions.

I thought the Smartgun only added +2 to the "accuracy" of the weapon, and if it was wireless, then it added +1/+2 to all "attacks" with the weapon (SR5 Page 433 ; Accurace is on page 168). I don't think I get the +2 to my firing, only to how many hits I'm allowed to count, since Accuracy is a limiting factor on your attack, not the same thing as your attack.

Alright first initiative, since that's simple: Initiative 2 (http://orokos.com/roll/291671): 1d6+10 11 (I feel you Viso)

Okay, then my defense roll: Defense (REA 3 + INT 5 - 2) (http://orokos.com/roll/291682): 6d6t5 3 (Yay!)

Pretty sure that catches me up.

From looking at your sheet, it seems your initiative is 1d6+8, not 10.
If correct, this would give you a 9, not an 11. Is there something I'm missing?

Action to me then.

I was going to charge the door but the rules are a bit wooly. It would be strength + something or Unarmed Combat (UC makes no sense as its an uncontested hit on strength but UC is agility.) So 7d6 +2d6(charging). Let's say that's 2-3 successes.

Page 198 has examples of shooting or magicing doors but none of kicking that sh*t down. Marcus thinks this door is a standard door, Str2 Arm4. Kicking the door successfully is Str(5) + 2 hits (let's say). This means that the best he can do is destroy the door but he would be left with only 1 remaining on the other side and then he's a target for 1 pass unless he finds cover.

Thoughts and rules calls?

Depending on judgement of above rules check, if he thinks he could get through the door and not be a target, FPs intended action would be the below
Free: Communicate sotto voce "Charge"
Complex: Charge the door
Move: to where ever FP saw cover inside

other wise:

Free: Communicate "Viso, wanna check on Byte?"
Simple Action: draw a sword
Simple Action: ready the flash pack
Move: to outside door jamb

Let's just have ya make a regular unarmed attack against it. It gets no defense roll, so you just keep whatever hits you get.

Depending on judgement of above rules check, if he thinks he could get through the door and not be a target,

FP knows where Bandana was when the door closed and if FP kicks it open he's pretty sure he'll be a wide open target if Bandana is still there.
However, Yall DID hear Bandana talking to someone else inside, who may or may not have had time to get into position just yet. It could go either way...

Free: Communicate "Viso, wanna check on Byte?"
Simple Action: draw a sword
Simple Action: ready the flash pack
Move: to outside door jamb

This sounds like the more likely option. Am I correct?

Bandana does some things.

Blowjob Dixie;
Simple Action: take cover (behind stairs)
Simple Action: 3 round burst at Byte

3 round burst at Byte (Agi 3 + Pistols 4) (http://orokos.com/roll/292344): 7d6t5 4

I'll need a defense roll with -2 from the burst from Byte. Then maybe a soak roll. Base DMG is 8P, -1AP.

Ok, then we're at...

FP 20
Destiny Dixie 17
Bandana Dixie 12

Byte 9

Def 2 (REA 3 + INT 5 - 2) (http://orokos.com/roll/292487): 6d6t5 2 *Sigh*

So that makes it 8+2P, -1AP. And since I don't have good armor... It hits as physical, not stun.

Soak (Bod 3 + Armor 9 - 1 AP) (http://orokos.com/roll/292488): 11d6t5 5

So... 5 physical. I'm half K.O.'d.

In which case I will:

Free: "Not a fucking fighter. Doors unlocked."
Move around the wall/corner. (Not "taking cover." Literally breaking LoS and going around the wall/corner.)
Simple: Bring up AR Matrix overlay.
Simple: Unlock the doors to the house. (This should be a simple, as I should be logged in already, unless someone found me and kicked me out.)

It's literally an assumption I have, that every Shadowrunner has some sort of subvocal mic and an earpiece (both of which are included in a micro-transceiver) and are on comms.  So it wasn't specifically mentioned, but I never imagined it needed to be.  In my world, it would be as assumed as wearing pants to the run.

That's fine. I'll keep it forced unlocked, hoping that it will cause a little bit of panic and/or confusion inside.

And yeah, I could easily swap that talking free action to a matrix free action, since my entire cyberdeck is implanted. I'll do that in IC, since it'd technically be a bit more in-character of Byte to use that.

Won't lie, kinda want to hack that dixie's gun, but that'd be a pain in the ass to do, both in-game and as a character. So instead, I'll just continue with my current line of action... Get the the fuck out of the fire fight.

FP is going to do a classic military breach with flashpack. This involves a strong kick to the door lock/catch dropping the flashpack on the inside and grabbing some wall on the outside while the inevitable fusillade happens.

Simple action: Kick the door open (http://orokos.com/roll/292788): 7d6t5 2
SImple action: Toss flashpack just inside the door (http://orokos.com/roll/292792): 2d6t5 0 (programmed for 2 * 3 second burst with 1 second gap)
Move aside (on outside of door)

Initiative: 10 dropped
Initiative: 9... The last 2 seconds are flashing
Initiative: 8... The first second is flashing, 1 second gap, the final second is flashing.
Initiative. 7... The first 2 seconds are flashing

The idea is that the first flash is a waste as it's clearly a grenade. The second sequence is the one that is effective...  Theoretically

Nah man, it'll go off way before you have another action. The current order is:

...and the order is...

FP 10
Destiny Dixie 7

So the theory is that the Flash Pak goes off while they're watching the door but they might duck out of the way if they think it's a grenade that is why the second sequence goes off after 5 seconds (1 second wait, 3 second flash, 1 second wait) The final sequence is triggered right before Destiny Dixie is taking 'his/her/its' action and is flashing for 2 of the 3 seconds that the action is occurring.

This is why I love Flash Pak devices: they're pretty versatile, they are rechargeable, they give about 10 seconds of pulsing in whatever sequence you program and they can be reprogrammed using a complex action (though I would never reprogram it in a combat turn.)

Ok, so FP kicks in the door, drops the flashpack just inside and backs up some. not actually taking cover, just staying behind the doorframe, without entering the house. Now that the door is open, he can see Bandana behind the base of the stairs, holding a shotgun. He also sees three junkies scurrying along the ground for the backdoor as well as another junkie, standing with no cover AT the base of the stairs, pointing a pistol at you with terror in his eyes.

Destiny does some things you can't see.

Bandana's actions are,
Simple: Take cover (behind stairs)
Simple: Fire at FP. Shotgun blast at the Ork (Agi 3 + Longarms 2) (http://orokos.com/roll/295932): 5d6t5 3
So, we'll need a defense roll (He's using a medium spread at close range, so you'll get -3 on that roll) and maybe a soak roll from FP.
Bandana's using flechettes, so the base dmg is 11P, AP +4

Blowjob does some things you can't see.

And we're at...
FP 10
Destiny Dixie 7

Since the Predator is already drawn, I'm going to shoot Bandana.  I'm not sure what sort of cover he has or if you prefer to add cover to defense rolls or subtract it from the shooter's rolls, I'll note all of that...

Complex Action: Semi-Auto 3 Round Burst at Bandana, pre-edged: 7 Hits (http://orokos.com/roll/296269) or 5 if the Cover is subtracted from my dice pool.  As a 3 round burst, he loses 2 dice from his defense pool.

Dodge is free but adding the skill costs -5 initiative and introduces a limit.

SR5 p174 Example.
p188 Ranged Defense.

Yeah, I know all that. My question was, can you DO the -5 initiative when your initiative score is 0? Either A) No you can't. Or B) Yes you can, it just takes 5 off your initiative roll next turn.

I can't find a ruling in the book, so I'm gonna go with B.
Need initiative from everyone, and FP will be getting -5 on his from the dodge.

Aaaaaaactually...
Just got a PM from someone far more knowledgeable than I and I've been doing something wrong. Dodge is a defense option for melee combat only. The only two defensive actions available for ranged attacks are Normal (Rea + Int) and Full Defense (Rea + Int + Will) which gives -10 initiative.

ALSO... You technically don't lose the 10 off your init score until the end of the pass, when everyone loses it at the same time, so my initial question of "can you spend it when you're at zero" is a moot point, cause FP was still technically at initiative count 10 when he was attacked.

Don't bother re-rolling or anything like that. We'll just say he avoided the shotgun blast and move on from there, more knowledgeable from here on out. Also, DO NOT take any penalty on your initiative.

Initiative = 12 (http://orokos.com/roll/296524)

Also... that Soak Roll... WHY DOES OROKOS HATE ME!?!

Finally:

I'm going to need the source for that, like errata or something (not because F-U, GM, but more for my own information, since we run Missons tables and allow folks to dodge gunfire).  When looking at interrupt actions for Block, Parry, and Dodge... Block and Parry SPECIFY using the associated skill to block/deflect an incoming melee attack.  Dodge does not specify, it says that they use their gymnastics skill to dodge incoming attacks.  There is no mention of 'melee'.  Page 168 Core Rulebook.

Besides being the RAW, this also makes sense.  You can't block or parry bullets.  But you sure can dive and duck out of the way of them.

Also, for future instances of interrupts:

Quote from: Page 167
When a character uses an Interrupt Action, such as Full Defense, he takes an action out of turn, but only if he has enough Initiative Score left in the Combat Turn to pay the price for the action.
Title: Re: [OOC] Honest to god milk runs, Part 3- (Wreckanize Rale)
Post by: Nevyn on <06-01-15/1824:17>
P191: This does not appear to be exclusive; "Any character... looking for a short-term boost to his melee defense can use a Dodge Interrupt Action...."

p188 mentions ACTIVE DEFENSES (p190) in the RANGED COMBAT section. Everything in that (Active Defenses) section raises UC or Melee specifically - but if they're referenced in Ranged Combat then are they for ranged combat?
Title: Re: [OOC] Honest to god milk runs, Part 3- (Wreckanize Rale)
Post by: Poindexter on <06-01-15/1834:11>
I'm going to need the source for that, like errata or something

From page 188

RANGED DEFENSE
A defender has two choices for defending against
ranged attacks. The defending character can perform
the standard Reaction + Intuition Test for free. The de-
fender can also choose to go on Full Defense (p. 191)
and decrease his Initiative Score by 10 to gain a bonus
on their Defense Test equal to their Willpower for the
whole Combat Turn.

Later on, on page 191;

DODGE
Any character, armed or unarmed, looking for a quick,
short-term boost to his melee defense can use a Dodge
Interrupt Action against an attack at any point in a Com-
bat Turn, so long as the character is not surprised (see
Surprise, p. 192). A Dodge action allows the character
to roll Reaction + Intuition + Gymnastics [Physical] as
his Defense test. Note that since a skill is introduced to
the Defense Test, a limit is introduced as well.
This boost only deducts 5 from his Initiative Score,
but it only lasts for a single Defense Test.

I think the key words there are "boost to his melee defense".
This is a ranged defense, and as such, follows the first paragraph.

Besides being the RAW, this also makes sense.  You can't block or parry bullets.  But you sure can dive and duck out of the way of them.

Agreed, and this diving and ducking out of the way is represented by the Full Defense action. I kinda dig it, honestly. It should be a little harder to dive and duck from bullets than to block and dodge punches. Making it cost 10 init instead of 5 is a good way of doing that.

I don't even know why I roll it to be honest.... Initiative 3(?) (http://orokos.com/roll/296562): 1d6+8 9

Wait, it might also be 8 instead. 5 physical damage, so I'm at a -1 for all rolls. So, probably 8 initiative.

I disagree... ALL of the defenses mentioned in the Active Defenses topic mention Unarmed Combat (UC) or Melee combat specifically. But that section is referenced from the Ranged Combat section... So if they are all active defenses ONLY for Melee or UC then why mention them in the Ranged Combat section?

Actually... I just reread the Active Defenses main heading (pp190-191) and....
"Sometimes you want to.... For those times, characters have one extra option for ranged attacks and 4 for..." So the FULL DEFENSE is the only extra option for ranged attacks.

FP is sprinting in to attack who ever he can see, Bandana in this case (hoping that people are still affected by the flashpack).

Movement: Charging to Bandana, likely putting him between FP and Destiny. (+2 on the charge)
Complex Action: Melée with sword: Blades 7 + 3 AG (http://orokos.com/roll/296629): 10d6t5 5 that makes 14P (Critical Strike[Blades] makes this a base 9P weapon)

You've still got your pistol out, right? I don't remember Byte ever readying the flash, so he'll still have to use a simple action to do so.

Either way, whether you use that simple to ready the flash or to take cover, things move on to Bandana next. He's gonna drop his weapon and plead with FP for dear, sweet life. He will use his move action to crawl backward away from you, toward a rear window. Where did FP cut him anyways? It was somewhere DEEP, wherever it was. Next, the junkies make it into the kitchen and continue unseen. This completes the pass and brings everyone into...

Right. Knowing that we have 2 down but not knowing whether or not there are 3 or 4 or 5 guards. We expected 3, there seemed to be 4 but now there are 2 in the house.

So, he's going to leave 'Bleeding and Quivering Dixie' and head up the stairs. attack Clumsy Dixie.

Speak: Better take care of this mess
Free Action: Charge Clumsy
Complex Action: Melée with sword (http://orokos.com/roll/298431): (Blades 7 + 3 Agility +2 Charging -2 Defender prone) 10d6t5 2 = 11P

So, he's going to leave Bleeding Dixie and Quivering Dixie and head up the stairs.

Just to let you know, bleeding and quivering are the same guy, Bandana. The other guy, Blowjob, is just clumsy, 7 shots short of a full clip, but still somehow miraculously uninjured and unafraid of yall trawg luvers. Are you certain you wanna turn your back on him and head up the stairs? I'll totally let you go back and edit your actions if ya wanna.

Now that FP is close enough to see where the stairs lead, he can tell that they go up for about 8 or 9 steps before turning 90 degrees to the left.

I'm gonna say that the defender prone only applies to ranged attacks. For melee, you actually get +2 for having superior position, so...
4 whoops dice (http://orokos.com/roll/298479): 4d6t5 1

So the standard sword is 8P but Critical Strike[Blades] makes this a base 9P weapon. (actually - I'm unsure of the standard base and am away from my books. I know that this is 9P with Crit Strike. (if crit strike adds +2 instead of +1 then standard base is 7P )

Looks like we'll need IC updates.  Meanwhile, I'm going to pretty much repeat myself:

Complex Action: 3 Round SA Burst 14 - 2 Defender Prone, 12 Dice Pool = 5 Hits (http://orokos.com/roll/299205).
Defender is at -2 to defense from 3 round burst.
Base Damage 8P, -1 AP

Also, the guy shooting while FP is trying to sword him, he should get the 'Attacker in Melee Combat' modifier of -3.

Indeed we will. Everyone, feel free to describe more of the enemy reactions to your attacks. You already know the outcome of your actions. describe them, eh?

Complex Action: 3 Round SA Burst 14 - 2 Defender Prone, 12 Dice Pool = 5 Hits (http://orokos.com/roll/299205).
Defender is at -2 to defense from 3 round burst.
Base Damage 8P, -1 AP

Defense Roll (Rea 4 + Int 3 - 2 Previous Defense) (http://orokos.com/roll/299208): 5d6t5 0 (Whoops, he was also supposed to get the -2 from the 3 round burst, but whatever. he got 0 hits.)

Soak 13P (Body 3 + Armorjack 12 - AP 1) (http://orokos.com/roll/299211): 14d6t5 5

So that leaves him taking 8P. Ouch! Looks like his luck just ran out. I'm gonna make him do a composure test real quick. Composure (Wil 3 + Cha 3) (http://orokos.com/roll/299214): 6d6t5 1 Ok, so he does NOT hold his shit together. We'll get into that once his next action comes up.

Also, the guy shooting while FP is trying to sword him, he should get the 'Attacker in Melee Combat' modifier of -3.

Indeed, he should have. Whoops. Thanks for the reminder.

Anyways, that brings us to...

Ok, well once FP reaches the bend in the stair case, he can see Destiny at the top of the stairs crouched, taking cover behind the doorjam just waiting for someone to come around that corner. She's letting off a six round burst at whoever it is.

Simple: Short full auto burst at FP
Simple: Close door.
Free: Shout at the team.

Six round burst at the ork (Agi 4 + Automatics 4 + Smartlink 1) (http://orokos.com/roll/299944): 9d6t5 1 wow. She's gonna edge it to re-roll.
Edge to re-roll (http://orokos.com/roll/299945): 8d6t5 5 wow the other way. Ok, well the accuracy on the gun is 6, so she gets to keep all 6 hits.

I need a defense test from FP with a -5 from the burst. The base dmg is 8P, AP -4 in case you need to soak.

EDIT: Also, by "holster the gun" I'm assuming you meant, "stuff it down the waistline of your pants" seeing as how FP doesn't have a holster for this gun, having just picked it up off the ground.

Soak Damage: Soak Damage; ((Bod 6 + Armour 9) -4AP) (http://orokos.com/roll/300001): 11d6t5 5

8P + 3 unsaved = 11. 11P - 5 = 6P
I think that's going to hurt.

Pushing the Limit Intimidate Roll:  Base Dice Poll = 12 (6 Cha + 1 Skil + 5 Edge) = 8 hits (http://orokos.com/roll/300367)

There might have been some bonuses due to them being injured or freaking out, or maybe negatives or whatever, so that's just the base roll.

ok, well Bandana is already about as intimidated as one can get, but he does not stop begging for his life, nor crawling backwards away from the front door. Blowjob takes another complex action to fire a three round burst at Viso, but doesn't realize his clip is empty. (Failed composure test from earlier) Hearing Viso's intimidation and seeing the trail of blood from his buddy, he drops the gun and puts his face down on the ground with his hands behind his head.

Also, Nevyn... i feel it should be noted that since the dmg FP took did not exceed his physical limit, he does not have to be knocked down, but if IC wise you still wanna have that happen, I'm not gonna stop you. This brings us to...

Viso is going to call Byte on his comms and have him come over and cover these two goons and then wait till he gets there.

Then holding action till after either Blowjob tries something squirrel, then I shoot him or till Byte gets there, then taking my action after Byte.

Alright, easy enough.

Free: <<Roger>>
Simple/Complex: Full movement towards Viso's position.

If that was a simple action (Dunno what I need to actually get through) then-
Simple: Reload Ares Alpha. (Removable Clip)

Basically, you'll get to his location at the end of this turn and you are considered to be "running" until that happens. You'll have to spend a free action every pass you are "running" to do so, but that is the only action you need to spend in order to run. Since you have a datajack, I'll let you take an extra free action to send your txt, since it doesn't break reality at all to think you could send a thought text while running.

Short answer: You can still take 2 simples or a complex this turn.

Alright, cool. If nothin' else, I could just reload next turn and use my simple in place of the other free action as well. I like the ruling because it's literally 1 word.

Using a complex action to pressure this lady into just giving up.

For the house surrounded part:

Con: Cha 6 + Con 6 + Fast Talk 2 = 14 = 4 Hits (http://orokos.com/roll/301530)  There might have been some bonuses to that based on hearing gunfire out the back/side of the house or whatever, guess you can work that into the counter roll, if there are any worthwhile mods.

For the intimidation part:

Intimidate: Cha 6 + Intimidate 1 + We definitely outnumber her 2 = 9 = 2 Hits (http://orokos.com/roll/301531)

  ???

Well, at least if the con works, she might not try escaping out a back window with the goods.

Just to mention, Byte has not reached you yet. You're by the front door, he went in the back. He's AT the backdoor right now.

Sorry, this confused me, I guess?  I assume 'his' is Viso and the end of this turn is... now?  Otherwise, my action is 'stands there till I can go after Byte gets in' and I'll change my post accordingly.

That's IF he went toward you, which he did not. He went around the other way.

I see, what's being stated in the OOC is different from what was posted in the IC.  So he's at the backdoor.  Going to edit the post so it makes sense (assuming the thin line is glass or a bar or counter or something), but still keeping the die rolls.

Also, here's the Jacksonville Gangs roll:

Intuition 5 + J-Ville Gangs 2 = 7 Dice = 2 Hits (http://orokos.com/roll/301675)

Whether she's buying it or not, you can't tell. She does not respond.

For the intimidation part:

Intimidate: Cha 6 + Intimidate 1 + We definitely outnumber her 2 = 9 = 2 Hits (http://orokos.com/roll/301531)

"Fuck yer muther, trawgluver!"

Well, at least if the con works, she might not try escaping out a back window with the goods.

Remembering the windows and her ability to look out them, you doubt she's buying the con.

Also, here's the Jacksonville Gangs roll:

Intuition 5 + J-Ville Gangs 2 = 7 Dice = 2 Hits (http://orokos.com/roll/301675)

2 hits is enough to tell you she's probably not bluffing about reinforcements being on the way. You'd guess there are actually two waves of them coming. A smaller group from nearby on foot will probably be here within the minute, and a larger, more well equipped one in car/s will probably be here within 5. Sounds like a NASTY little timer, but remember that one full combat turn is 3 seconds. Since Blowjob first fired his pistol and missed Byte, it has only been 12 seconds.

Round- 4 Pass- 3
FP 2

Byte did it before yall even headed over here. I'm pretty sure he sent yall a message regarding just that soon after he was shot.

Of course you can ret-con it. That's why I mentioned it.

Round- 5 Pass-1
Destiny 24
FP 21
Viso 15
Byte 11

A few things to consider,
1- FP pushed the door open for his last action of the last turn, but did not move through it.
2- Viso and FP are at the top of the stairs, and Byte is at the rear door, covering blowjob. At the moment, no one has eyes on Bandana. He was last sighted crawling backwards nw. No one has eyes on Destiny either.
3- It aint too late to spend edge if you wanna go first.

EDIT: Updated map
