I agree with Chrona. That's needlessly complicating the setting, and with the distance between the zones it's indeed silly... I get it when it comes to costs of living, but the rest of it - meh...
Binding only gives you a more broad choice of services. You have to Summon the spirit to be bound anyway. And mages cannot have more than one active spirit 'on standby' besides Watchers... That, and Drones don't have free will.
I'm still not sure about the Binding part and my character's tradition. It should be easier, theoretically, because in Stryker's case Binding would look more like spirit pacts... He doesn't force the spirit, only tries to convince him to become a long-term ally.

EDIT: Oh and can I retcon and say calico only has her Urban Fighter on her. At the time the fact that it was an upscale restaurant slipped my mind. There would be security there.

Wilco, grabs the dinner knife he was eating with and makes a bee line for the exit to get to the van. He is looking for cover as he is making his exit. Dodgeing and weaving his way around people. times like this he's glad to be a dwarf hoping that his small size will atleast make it harder to spot him. If he happens to spot a fire alarm on his way out he will pull it. Then he sends a message to his teammates anyone close to the breaker box, if not Cursor can you take out the lights. I'll be at the van, preparing a drone to launch. Wilco, thinks a fly spy drone will be handy.
Oh my bad I missed that part as I was getting caught up. Wilco then jumps in the van and will spend his first action launching the Fly spy after that while in driver seat with window down. Wilco pulls out the MP-5.

Total DV of 11, resisted with Willpower. Stryker takes no damage (total force of 8+3 from net hits basic), since he has 5 hits on damage resistance. (DV=Force/2), he glitched though, so I'll included that in the IC part. I'd propose that Stryker's sight will be taken from him - the strain on his body was too much, and the excess magic poured out through his eyes - for a time, and he'll be forced to astrally perceive for a while. That's a -2 penalty to non-magical actions, pretty big for a normal glitch, so I'd propose to cut it to active actions only - so it wouldn't affect Defense, and such. And the amount of magic shouldn't be something that he can hide - the astral signature will linger there for a few weeks at the least... There's also the attention he could get from other magicians who felt the surge. It's your choice.
If you agree on this, I'd also want to turn Stryker's hair to silver permanently, and leave a bit of a badass magic afterglow in his eyes, and right hand - silvery smoke, magic still surging between his fingers, and such. This was a huge feat for Stryker - he channeled as much magic as he could, and got out of it unharmed through sheer will and pure luck.
As for explaining my actions to the others: I'm taking out the leader and making a target of myself in one move. This way Cursor and Mrs. Johnson will be fine. If you cover me, as I requested, Stryker should handle the attention. Hopefully the covering fire will take some of them out...
As for the mission, let's take these punks out, save the Johnson, and squeeze the truth out of her when we do. We'll talk about the job then.

As for the mission, let's take these punks out, save the Johnson, and squeeze the truth out of her when we do. We'll talk about the job then.
Let's say I did. And by 'squeezing' I didn't mean forcing her to, just using the 'we saved your ass' achievement as leverage to get more info. Stryker will try to get an answer from her on his own anyway - by just asking her. He needs to know...
And as the proverbial excrement has hit the proverbial rotating device, we now know who she is, without having to 'google it'.
Besides, Stryker will go with the team. To stop them, if necessary. He doesn't take endangering children easily. And he's betting there is a second layer to this job...

Shooting from partial cover warrant additional -2 to roll
This is a heavy crossbow so this is medium range for it and additional -1 to roll
There is also Stryker straight between you and the target providing him a good cover. This will give him +4 to defense. If you shoot and miss, I'll ask Stryker to roll his edge against with target being number of hits by which you miss. If he fail he'll be hit instead.
With the above modifier you have 3 hits.
Do you shoot? If you change the target we'll keep the roll (just add the modifiers as relevant).

Attacker Firing From Cover
Sometimes cover limits a character’s ability to see the action and obstructs
his view of his target(s), even when he moves quickly out from
behind cover to shoot. If the Attacker benefits from Good Cover, or
his cover obscures his view, apply a –2 dice pool modifier to any attacks.

Actually no, projectile weaponry doesn't suffer from this, i can just adjust tension and elevation and arc the shot over Stryker so it hits him still. I even have a CF designed around a program made to calculate any number of arcing trajectories all at once. One is no problem. It's why I have a crossbow not a gun.
To shoot by arcing, you need to modify both strength and the angle. unless I miss something you can't easily modify the heavy crossbow strength (and if you can that would reduce the damage). if you shoot over Stryker the bolt would just hit the building on the other side of the street.

I still think a smartlinked crossbow could alter the strength enough but heres my proposal I'll take your penalties and the 3 hits, making missing a likely chance but can we not have it hit stryker if it does co of the smartlink and can you lower the gangers +4 to dodge because he has as much trouble seeing me too.?
Okay wilco, then tells others members moving closer to yall. He quickstarts the Van AND MOVES TOWARD GANGER that is just off the passenger side in back. Wilco is moving at a speed that would allow players taking cover by the van to walk with van and not loss cover. In Round two wilco will take a shot at the ganger that he can see out the driver side window in rolls of parking lot spaces behind his. On Wilco shot he will fire a full burst.

Okay, so there will be two possible courses of action for Stryker.
First one:
If Sent allows me to use a Quick Draw action (Complex off course) for my sword, I'll try to take out the last ganger nearby (no. 1) at the same time using him as cover and in the following IP I'll try to take out whoever is left with a Manabolt. Every hit I score on my Defense roll is substracted from the enemy's attack roll. If he gets 2 hits on attack, and I get 1 hit on defense, his hits are reduced to 1 net hit which is enough only to score a shot with no bonus damage. So when I score 4 hits on Damage Resistance, the damage is shrugged off entirely.
In short - the first net hit is 'used up' to make a successful attack. Damage increases with the second, and next hits.

Stryker's right.
It's not important since we won anyways but wouldn't my dice pool for that shot be 13. Since Image Magnification eliminates range modifiers it's Agility(7) + Pistols(4) + Smartlink (2) =13.
Also woo we win. Do I hear sirens. It's only been what? 9 seconds right.
But when you use an aim action for Image magnification it doesn't add 2 it just negates range modifiers.
But you are correct it doesn't matter.

Wilco, starts to drive off. Ask cursor to check and see if there were any cameras outside that may have picked all that up? If so chummer can you take care of them. Anyone have any ideas we here should head, if not Wilco will suggest his place. It's small but we can park the van in the garage and debrief on the what the frag, we may have gotten ourselves into. "chummers anyone get a. Fix on the gang that those hangers represented. If so who were they." Wilco will then place a call into his bartender contact to see if they know what the gang has been up to lately? And if they have been burned by anyone recently? before the call though Wilco will put out his storm cloud drone to survey and to watch the area that we are at.
1. Wilco contacts his bartender contact and orders a couple more cases of beer.
2. Inquires about the gangers and also ask his contact if he knows of anyone that has had negative dealing with a person named lady jade.

Unfortunately for the spider, hackers
tend to change both their location and their access ID on a regular
basis, so this information is usually dated and no longer accurate. A
successful Track Test using access log information will only give the
location from which the hacker performed the last action recorded
in the access log, and the access ID that she used at the time.

" We're Shadowrunners, not common criminals."
First we (or I in this case) need to know if that's just a kidnapping, or something more. If not, Stryker is out, and he'd probably warn the target's security... It's a question of morality, and he wouldn't be able to sleep well knowing he took part in a kidnapping. If you need to know why, check the first Urban Brawl...
From the above only Falcone may have the possibility to know more than what Cursor was able to dig out, and even he not immediatelly - it will cost you 250 yen to know more.
We didn't take any money from her yet.
After short but intense round of negotiations she looks at each of you in turn starting from Cursor, and finishing on Stryker. We've agreed then on thirty thousands nuyen, three thousands upfront. You will withing three days bring the girl to the safehouse at this address in Aurora Warrens.
Sorry for not posting for a bit I was waiting for Boer to post but I'll just go now.
Right after Calico says what she does in my last IC post she messages Rick The Arms Dealer about possible guns to sell and asks him if he's got any info on the girl or the Johnson.
I'll write and phrase that better in an IC post soon.
1. Willing to pay, yes. But as I wrote - more willing to owe favors*. As for the money part - you didn't write anything about getting that money, so I assume Stryker didn't take any, is that okay?
As for the rest - would you be willing to 'betray' our Johnson and keep our hands clean, or sell your honor and conscience for nuyen?
I know Mata wouldn't need the money that much. I can help Cursor pay off the debt, as there's nothing I want to spend the money for at the moment. And I have 8,6K ATM. As for the rest - getting a 'home base' and consolidating our group into a full-fledged team would be nice. Are you interested?
2. * I think a favor-based information network would be a lot more effective, and realistic. You don't exchange paid services, you exchange favors. They give me info, I return the favor when they need info, or help that's within my skills (healing, spells, magical security and/or surveillance, spell augumentation, magical consulting, and so on, even bodyguard/combat jobs when the 'price' is sufficient - I think I'll try to propose a favor system ruleset soon).
For the selling if she decides to sell she also gets a plus 3 modifier for Black Market Pipeline.

No, cryptic means they make sense in the context you have, and you just have to mark the dots. This? I don't get it at all...
Well from what I got of the first one is that now that we took the job we can't back out...maybe I'm not sure.
Stryker is probably at home, waiting for the team to pick him up. He's thinking about it, and still it doesn't add up... He's determined to turn his back on Jade, and help the girl.

Activator Nanites R.6:[/quote]
Vector: Contact, Inhalation, or Injection
Speed: 1 minute
Penetration: 0
Power: 8
Effect:A new hazard in the Sixth World, intruder nanites are a
specialized form of nanoinfectors. Intruders are hard machines
that carry simple firmware and are designed to subvert electronic
devices and cyberware. Once deployed—normally in a sticky
gel solution—they seek out the nearest input-output electronic
circuitry and feed the processor preprogrammed instruction sets.
Since this is a hardware-based attack, it circumvents standard
device protections (such as Firewalls). Specific effects must be preprogrammed
when the system is acquired. Once inside a person,
intruders will latch onto the first cyber system they find (barring a
called shot this is left to the gamemaster’s discretion).
Intruders have no Signal rating and rely on physical contact. To
subvert a device the intruder nanites must win in an Opposed Test
between their rating and the target item’s Device or System rating
(see Sample Devices, p. 214, SR4). While the user can simply command
an infected device to behave normally, the intruders will simply
re-execute their instruction set on the next Combat Turn (and will
continue to do so until deactivated or ordered to stop). A tag eraser
or system reboot destroys all of a device’s active intruders. Most intruders
cannot defeat encryption, so are ineffective against encrypted
devices (gremlins, however, are unaffected by encryption).
Activators: Activators infect wireless-capable devices and
perform one of two simple, yet annoying tasks: They either subscribe
the infected device to nodes without the user’s permission,
or open the device to universal unrestricted access. Such changes
in access status are not necessarily apparent if the device isn’t being
directly monitored.
I'm going for subscription to me
Oh and the sprites using it's traceroute power on the pic like in best served cold
From what I've read it seems that intruders are nanoware, and as such they are only applicable like toxins, that is into the living person.
I am affraid you cannot use it to take control over van. Sorry.
You may change the ic post accordingly, as I understand this might change your tactic.

All right. This may take several hours, but I assume, this isn't a problem.
I posted something, as I write up the post, it'll be soon
Id also have red-lined my cyberarm when jade left to attempt an escape
Aug p.44
Optional Rul e:
Redlining a Cyberlimb
If the gamemaster allows it, cyberlimbs can be
pushed beyond their design parameters. A cyberlimb
user can take a Simple Action to temporarily
override cybernetic safeguards and “redline” the
cyberlimb’s attributes, increasing one attribute
to any value up to double the cyberlimb’s normal
rating in that attribute. The character may even
exceed his augmented attribute maximum in this
way. At the end of each Combat Turn a cyberlimb
is redlined in this manner, however, the limb and
the character suffer damage from muscle sprains,
ligament tearing, and general biostress. The DV of
such damage equals twice the attribute modifier
taken by redlining in Stun damage, and is resisted
with Body. For example, a character who redlines
his cyberarm from Strength 4 to Strength 8 to pull
open a door will suffer 8S damage each Combat
Turn he redlines his arm.

If any of you is willing to follow the Denver story, let me know. The next Mission is completely different and I am not sure I like it, but we'll see.
Frankly I'm not sure Cursors reaction to this, i dont think he thinks he can pay off the debts ever.
I don't think I'll ever pay off the ~100 karma for both debts and enemy.
And Stryker just moved out and hit the streets for his vengeance summoning so Cursor's on the streets too.
Depending on he karma (if any) we get for this TR2 may kill us lol
By my rules: you pay you're no longer in debt, no karma cost attached, neither to your original debt nor the ones you got now.Thats how i run it at my table, thanks Sent.
We'll need a face and another combat type
I'll certainly try to make things harder :)
I don't pay. I get my sword back. I pay them back. What about that? Should I just quit playing?

I'm just not a fan of being punished for being 'the good guys'. And as a GM I find the practice of abducting PC's and screwing them over something unacceptable. An Enemy added to the quality list, yes. Even Wanted, or something like that. Plus the Notoriety, that we've got. But something of that scope? No. That's just too much. I really hoped that was something else - like the mother pulling strings to get the truth out of us, and force us to work for them for free, or something like that. Not a total humiliation and the destruction of everything that we earned from which you have no way of running from.
You know why I went along with the ambush, and didn't say anything about adding stuff on the fly? Because I really though you have an idea on how to work this scenario into something that's not built like a AD&D dungeon, or an early CoC scenario.
I liked the way you worked as a GM. Yes, it was fun playing Missions, despite the way those scenarios work. Until now...
And I see that outcome was obviously rigged from the start. And even our intervention couldn't change it. Meh. I couldn't play in a game I don't have any influence over the story anyway.
