Mlinzi double checked the few pieces of gear she possessed. As was her standard practice, the wireless functionality was turned OFF for everything but her chameleon suit, which was running silently.

Mutumbo also turned his wireless functions off. He frowned as the electronics enhancing his vision went off, blurring his sight slightly for the fraction of a second as his eyes got used to the new conditions. ”Stay down, I’ll stand watch in the cover of the cars. I’ll holler if anything happens.” With that he took a position that provided the optimal mixture of cover and vantage point, considering the position of the patrol and readied himself for whatever.

The scout draws even with your camp a little under half a km out, making it's way southward without slowing. As it begins to pass, however, it's pace slows slightly and it turns, not directly at you, but to the south west, which would bring it somewhat closer to your camp.

Ultra follows the van with the drone's sensor feed, monitoring its progress.
//Change of course guys, this is going to be close; be ready//
Sensing the impending danger, Ultra dropped out of VR control; switching to an AR terminal instead.
The momentary shock to his nervous system was soon drowned out by the rush of adrenaline, prepping him for a potential fight.
He continues to monitor the AR feed as he draws his pistol in preparation.

Mlinzi sits tight as the tension increases. I'd really like to know who this is... she thinks to herself.

Mutumbo didn’t like the patrol changing direction. It might not be because of them, but it might. He used the built-in magnification of his eyes to zoom in on the jeep. Fortunately, he dedin’t really have to move for this, as he already occupied a watch position. Regardless, he concentrated on making the least possible moves, and make them slowly, as sudden changes of the environment, however small, could be noticed easier. He changed from normal to thermal spectrum, changing back to normal at the end.

As you shift to the thermal spectrum, you make out what appears to be three people in the jeep, two in front and one in the rear. Any distinguishing characteristics of the individuals are not visible, and the figures are lost as your vision returns to normal, the jeep only vaguely visible through the darkness.

Mutumbo looked back towards the hiding place of the others. Then, in cover of the car he was hiding behind, he raised his left hand, showing three fingers. He held it visible for two seconds, then held his hand open, with palm down, and slowly lowered it towards the ground. After making the signal, he returned to watching the jeep, and unless something changed, he intended to let it pass peacefully.

Three people, Mlinzi thought to herself. We should be able to handle that, just have to make sure they don't call anyone.

The elf maintained her position, quietly waiting and hoping they were not spotted.

Ultra set his deck up for "work" mode, searching for the occupants of the vehicle still lit in a green hue on the Drone's sensor feed.

5(6),4(5),4,2= Sleaze/data processing/firewall/attack
Programs:
Virtual box;Stealth (+1 sleaze) + toolbox (+1DP)
Configurator

As his sleaze suite came online, he extended his Icon filter out to 600mtrs and ran a search, trying to get a fix on the electronics of the patrol jeep and it's occupants.
matrix search for the icons in 200-600mtr (6d6.hits(5)=3) 3 hits, within limit of 5

Sifting through the icons this far out does not take very long. The only icons you can recognize not belonging to your team are for a pair of what look like commlinks.

All of a sudden, Ultra's mind clicked into overdrive. He could potentially tap into a mine of information on this patrol, maybe see if they were co-ordinating with other teams in the area and trace them back to base.
He instructed the drone to land and slipped into hot-sim, the wash of the simsense kicking him in the gut as it disengages his motor control.
 eenie meenie miny mo...
Ultra picks the leftmost Icon, sleazing the commlink's firewall to convince it to allow him a Mark.

hacking 5, logic 5, hot sim 2 (12d6.hits(5)=1)
EDG to re-roll failures
hacking 5, logic 5, hot sim 2 (11d6.hits(5)=6)
well that was more like it lol!
7 hits to place a mark.
i'm gonna assume that was successful and roll for the next action; i'll edit if i failed (just wanna keep things moving)

Granted a Mark on the device, Ultra proceeds to direct his EWAR suite to the traffic emanating from the device, setting it to record on his storage and play vocal feeds through his headphones
"Snoop"
ewar 4, int 4, hot sim 2 (10d6.hits(5)=6) oorah! 6 hits, limit 6.
resist with LOG + firewall.

EDIT! just remembered, i'm running silent!
-2 dice removed from the end of the roll means that the snoop roll goes to 5 hits and the Mark roll will go to 6 hits.

You manage to look into the datastream to the marked commlink, and catch the last few seconds of a conversation...unfortunately you do not recognize the language.

I dropped a few dice off the end but you still easily succeeded. You got about 3 seconds of chatter that you heard, but it was not in Swahili, Afrikaans, or English.

Ultra left the recording running to his deck's storage and edited the audible snippet of the conversation into a raw music file.
//<<guys, anyone recognise this language? its a recording from the jeep's drivers>>//

Mlinzi sits in silence, unable to hear Ultra's communications. She keeps her eyes peeled on Mwindaji to see if he sends any further  hand signals.
