You may propose it Marlowe. I shall run screaming in the opposite direction, but don't let that stop you. :P

I suppose if I put together an Objectivist initiatory group it would look something like this:

Group Avatar: Sun
Individual Strictures: Belief (Objectivist), Fraternity, Geas (Condition): May never accept aid without fair payment.
Group Strictures: Oath ("I swear, by my life and my love of it, that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine.")
Customs: The group is devoted to excellence in any area of expertise, and to the elevation and practice of Objectivist philosophy. Members are fierce individualists, but ruthlessly fair with each other. There is no leadership structure, as each man must serve as his own master.
Resources/Dues: None/none. Collective holdings are the antithesis of Objectivist thought. Each member is expected to maintain his own tools and materials, but must offer it to other members at a fair cost ("fair" to a strict Objectivist always includes a profit, of course).

Whad'ya think?

Your  initiatory seems normal but it seems odd to have a group of individuals who don't like, well, groups.  Why would they help each other in group initiations without payment for example?

As an added note I'm not going to force passage of time on you, so when you depart from the hangar to head towards the club (or any other endeavor) you can announce your arrival and I'll take the narrative from there until you're in the meeting.

It's not groups, but groupthink they find anathema. A group of individuals coming together for a common purpose is a matter of each individual's personal choice to support another's quest for excellence, from an Objectivist standpoint. Enlightened self interest comes into play in group initiation, knowing that supporting one member's initiation will also make yours easier. It's also a matter of elevating a philosophical ideal followed by other members: the more powerful your fellows, the more protection you have from looters and mooches. Participation in Ordeals, however, would be another kettle of fish altogether. "Need help with that metaplanar quest? Sure. Yeah, I've done it before. Want to know how I did it? Sure. 5k. Want me to come along and help? Sure. I just need you to clear up a little matter for me . . ." Interestingly, it could possibly work the other way for, say, a masterpiece. I suspect they'd treat initiations within the group as recognizing an achievement amongst achievers, rather than bestowing anything or "allowing" someone to ascend up the ranks. It would probably fall into the "A = A" category, simply recognizing a member's advancement as a factual event.

Objectivists don't help people because they need help, but because they've earned it, whether in service to the cause or in work honestly given. Altruism is a dirty word, viewed as stealing from yourself and treated as harshly as stealing from another.

So, not quite the oxymoron that is an anarchist group, yes?  :P

And a quick note: I posted Bullpen's thoughts in Spanish since that's his native language, but I don't personally know Spanish. I just used Google Translate, so if any of you actually know Spanish, that's why it's stilted. I only know enough Spanish IRL to ask for a beer and insult your family, heh.

Well that's a bit more clear, I suppose that works then.  Just remember you're going to be doing a lot of world travelling in this game so Seattle will be a brief stop once we finish this particular assignment.

Would Benandanti XXV work better? I don't want to hammer the Objectivist angle so hard he becomes one dimensional.

B25 would work fine with globe trotting, just remember that there needs to be a story to work out for how you get recruited, and there's the Obedience stricture - since B25 answers to Schwarzkopf.

Hm. I think the Objectivist enclave would be an easier fit, and less intrusive on the game than having a dragon involved. We should catch up on skype soon to hammer out the philosophy, and maybe a few active members.

Um... Marlowe? I thought they were picking me up from the harbour and taking me to the hangar before we went to Fenris Nacht (which is on the mainland).

Hmmm, I got the impression some of the team was headed off to Fenris Nacht immediately, and some was off to meet you while the spirits did their thing.  Maybe I got the impression wrong, I can edit.

It's only my impression anyway. I could have been wrong in my  interpretation of it as well.

I was under the impression that Bullpen, Ron, and Gray were going to the Harbor, coming back to the Hangar, and then going to Fenris Nacht.
