Are there openings in this game? If so, would it be possible to speak to someone about getting hired here?

First. Yes, there are openings
Second. posting in the recruitment threads is the most common form of getting hired.
Third. In the First post of this thread is the description of the game that is being envision (and now even played) and it is not a typical shadowrun game. Posting the game description in the first post is also typical to this forums. It would solve a lot of your question to read, but I'll reiterate the most important points.
- this is a game only for free spirits (albeit a level higher in hierarchy then the standard spirits bound by all kind of magicians in SR),
- 650 Karmagen limit,
- the only allowed traditions are witchcraft and black magic
- there is an optional rule on Edge use in play
- since this is highly magical setting there is no role of hacker, BUT you I can make a place for a possession tradition based free spirit with matrix skills, that happen to have good matrix gear stashed somewhere
- there are new qualities and 'gear' for the free spirits in this game
