>>>>>[I've never once thought I was invulnerable. However, I do make it very hard for someone to kill me. There's even precautions against snipers at my home in the Tir. But considering the fact that I've had four limbs replaced over the years, along with a couple internal organs, I wouldn't say I'm invulnerable at all. However, I'm still here, and the people who tried to kill me are dead, or worse. Now if someone on Smiley's level were to seriously try and kill me, I'd be worried. And I am quite confident that I would not stand a chance against someone like Teachdaire. I'm also confident that I'm nowhere near important enough for someone of that level to be sent after me. Within the range of people that can be reasonably expected to be sent after me, either in my official or shadow personas, I'm reasonably sure of being able to at least escape from any situation that doesn't involve me being sniped from 1 Km away. Oh, I wouldn't escape unharmed from all scenarios, but all that matters at the end of the day is that I'm still breathing, and my enemies aren't.]<<<<<

That sounds like way too much work. You puffy mages are no fun to play with anyway. You are always zapping and igniting things, then forgetting your very bestest friends' birthdays. Rather uncouth if you ask me, which you didn't, but that's okay. I forgive you. So, when shall we get together for tea and crumpets, my very best friend in the whole wide world? In a fortnight? Or perhaps some other fancy rich people measurement of time? I shall bringeth you a gift of spices from across the sea, I shall.]<<<<<

>>>>>[Meh, I don't have time to go after every single person who insults me. Hell I'd be doing that full time and that's not very lucrative. I do have a good memory...

And no. Oh no. I'm not a god! Neither am I invincible. I'm an elf and leonization is well within my ability to pay, so I can live very a long time. But no, I'm not bullet proof. And in fact, I'm also pretty easy to find with basic legwork when I'm not on a job. I'm not the best combattant either, I've met plenty better than me, although opponents would do well to remember to be sure of their abilities when facing someone who can punch through a brick wall with his bare hands without too much efforts.

What makes me dangerous and well behond the ability of most people to kill is my ability to foresee complications and potential dangers, the friendships I nurture as well as my ability to make myself indispensable to them. Some important and highly placed people owe their rises to my efforts and my death would be a serious threat to their power base. A lot of people have a stake in my well-being and they all work (even sometimes together) to prevent bad things from happening to me. I'm also the head of a small but growing shadow intelligence network and I employ a fairly good number of assassins and spies. And we all watch each other's back, since that's the whole point of that network, well that and making drek loads of money. If I die, all these people will be tasked with finding and killing everyone responsible for my death with the promise of a bounty (which is now at 35 million nuyens and will grow as I grow richer). Oh and I also let my reputation speak for itself when it comes to scare and discourage potential threats, a thing I also nurture with most zeal. A reputation that says "Very professionnal and efficient but a completely insane and cruel sociopath!" suits me very well.

So basically, smart people usually don't like the risks of retribution so they don't come after me. When idiots comes after me, I'm most of the time warned by a contact. And for the opportunist and the lucky, well, as I said I'm good in foreseeing danger. And so I remain alive to this day.

And I'm well versed in the cruel, the horrible and the inhumane. The last person I skinned alive after I injected him with a mix of hyper sensitivity drugs, adrenaline, coagulent, a little bit of hallucinogenic drugs and just enough healing magic to keep him from crossing the doors of death, seemed to agree with me. I'm pretty sure he thought the catholic hell was a nice place to be after that. Oh, I also cut out his tongue, nose, fingers, ears, plucked out his eyes and pourred down a small acid down his eye sockets but, well, I'll admit that was a little overkill for the purpose of the exercise. And that was just to remind some people not to cross me. Also, Autumn seem well on her way to best her master in this area of expertise. Oh,the things she cooked up in the lab...]<<<<<

Anyways, I'll say that I was being a dick last night so I apologize on my part there. I've been running the shadows for a good while now but you all will only hear my name on occasion and I like it that way and so do a lot of people I work with. Plus sometimes it fun to mess around with star power in the shadows but I'll never push my point where one of you will hunt me down and cut off my head.

Smiley, I don't doubt you know the way of cruel and unusual it's just comes a little different when your the one being tortured.]<<<<<

I see they have held up to not being one and they sure as hell are not the immortals that walk this earth.

I see you have been using your ganger and professional interrogation skills there Stinger. I taught you well.

>>>>>[Unsurprisingly, corpsec and militaries use a lot of the same lingo, but there are differences between the two. And the lingo in the TTPF will be different from that in the UCAS army, just as the lingo at Knight Errant is different from Lone Star. This is the kind of thing that wouldn't come up in linguasofts. You either gotta know it, or pass yourself off as a green recruit if you're trying to go in undercover. I recommend finding out what bars the enlisted men drink at, and make yourself a regular. Get to know a couple of the grunts. You'll pick up the lingo in no time.

And Alex, I believe he had a terminal case of angry blood magic cult after him. Make of that what you will.

Miner, I wouldn't say I'm a prime runner. Prime runners are people like Serrin Shamandar or Dirk Montgomery, people who've been around the block so many times the sprawl named it after them. They're legends. I'm just a combat mage who happens to be a nobleman and someone who keeps finding people wanting to kill me for various (mostly justified) reasons.]<<<<<

>>>>>[Oh, I have two gardens, yes. There's the one at my estate in Malek'thas (Mother has another estate where the party will be held), and the one around my lake house in Tarislar. I've a few other holdings in Cara'sir, Seattle, Los Angeles, and even an apartment I recently picked up in Denver. I was thinking of getting a vacation spot up near Churchill in the AMC. Had my eye on a nice little place within sight of Hudson Bay. But back to your point, yes, my gardens are quite nice. And I like to decorate them with the best looking of the assassins who try to kill me, turned to unmelting ice sculptures. A trick I learned from Mother, though hers are stone instead of ice.

And the Tir is quite nice, as always. There was a bit of unpleasantness after the Crash, and I had to avoid the country for a while (with a brief return to make example of the people who killed my sister), but friends in the Peace Forces kept watch on my property, so I got through it relatively unscathed. Having multiple income streams helped greatly with that. I spend most of my time in the Tir or Seattle now, primarily due to maintaining my various covers.

And before anyone asks, no, I'm not in the shadows for the money. If it was that, I could have retired by now. But honestly, I would get bored spending centuries doing nothing, and the SOTA is always moving forward, especially concerning magic. Can't let my skills get rusty, or I'll slip up and let one of these fools actually kill me.]<<<<<

>>>>>[ Mmm. the level of overconfidence verges on the outright arrogant. Oh well. They'll learn. Maybe.

Welcome back Miner Fox. I don't think we've met. I think most of us here have alternative incomes. Also, few of us chose this life. What's fame when you have to think about survival? Considerations like starpower is secondary...at least, it is if you want to live long enough to retire. In the shadows, rep is everything. Without it, you don't run. You don't run, you don't eat. Or, in the case of Miri and myself, and some others, we'd die of boredom if we had to just sit around living off our interest. You don't aim for fame for fame's sake. To endure what we do merely for the sake of riches and starpower...that must be the mark of insanity.  ]<<<<<
